My dear friends,
It was so overwhelming to see this patient of mine in my consulting room today. He had met me exactly 15 years ago in 2009 when I was in my old clinic place. He had come to me only for a consultation after reading my article in a local Marathi newspaper and honestly told me that he could not afford the surgery then but would come back when he would afford it. After that first and only visit he somehow lost my number and all contact details. Incidently after a couple of years, I shifted to my new Genesis Cosmetic Clinic in panchpakhadi, not very far from my old one. Now after so many years, I’m thoroughly amazed at the fact that in the last one year, this gentleman has visited Thane 3-4 times just to search me without my contact details. He went to the same place where my old clinic existed and asked my whereabouts to every person there who was around but after so many years, nobody there could give him my new address. Finally today he decided to visit all medical stores around the place and finally one pharmacist identified me and he could get my address. Needless to say that this person doesn’t even possess a smart phone to search me on google. Such profound simplicity. A very simple man, a daily wage earner, he was in mid forties that time when he met me first. And with the same genuine simplicity, he has come to me now as a senior citizen. But his zeal to get the same cosmetic surgery done hasn’t waned off at all. He wants the same surgery today from me after so many years because now he can afford it. I literally have no words to describe my feelings today. He could have gone to anyone else today for the same but was determined to find and meet me. Today, I actually understood the deep meaning of the words ‘faith’ and ‘humanity’. And also the perpetual fact that age is just a number. We all have learnt a beautiful phrase in our school days …‘As you sow…so you reap’…..so meaningful isn’t it…? I feel I have earned everything today, just the joy of giving him what he desires is all that I need after 20 years of my practise as a Cosmetic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon.🙏🏻
