NIMS Medicity hosted an International conference on upcoming trends of stem cell therapy in pain management. The international conference, jointly organized by NIMS Medicity, Noorul Islam Center for Higher Education Department of Allied Health Sciences, NIMS Center for Genomic Medicine, and Indian Society for the Study of Pain, was inaugurated by Dr. M. V. Pillai, renowned oncologist and Clinical Professor of Oncology, Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. Mr. M. S. Faizal Khan, Managing Director of NIMS Medicity and Pro-Chancellor of NICHE Kanyakumari, presided over the function. Dr. Manju Thampi, Medical Administrator, NIMS welcomed the gathering. Dr. Sreejith R, President, IMA Thiruvananthapuram Chapter, delivered the felicitation address. Dr. Sairam Atluri, Founder, StemCures, USA , Dr. Satish Khurana, Associate Professor, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Dr. Aravindan Mamallan, Consultant, Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, NIMS Medicity, and Dr. Aneesh Nair, Head and Principal Scientist-NIMS Center for Genomic Medicine and Associate Professor, Dept of Allied Health Sciences, delivered plenary talks. The panel discussion was one of the most engaging sessions of the conference, bringing together an interdisciplinary panel of experts. Moderated by Dr. Salim Shafeek, Consultant Haematologist and Hon. Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham, UK, the discussion explored various perspectives on the future of stem cell therapy in pain management. The expert panel included Dr. Sairam Atluri, Shri. M.S Faizal Khan, Satish Khurana (Associate Professor, IISER, Thiruvananthapuram), Dr. Ansar Showkath Ali (Associate Professor, Govt. Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram), Dr. Aravinthan Mamallan (Consultant, NIMS Medicity), Dr. Aksar AM (Anaesthesiologist and Pain Medicine Specialist), Dr. Lekshmi S Nair (Head, Medical Genetics, NIMS Medicity), Dr. Lakshmi Mohan (Assistant Professor, Govt. Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram), and Dr. Ramya (Pain Medicine Specialist, Medical College, Kanyakumari). Distinguished speakers and panelists delivered insights into cutting-edge research, clinical applications, and the transformative potential of stem cell therapy in addressing chronic and refractory pain conditions. The conference received an overwhelming response, with 387 registrations from various institutions across Kerala and Tamil Nadu, and 25 delegates presented their research.
