Gitanjali hospital was founded in 1984 by Dr Balakrishnan Nair, an eminent ENT specialist. For many years it has been a clinic with a lab and out patient services. Over the years Gitanjali hospital has been known for its ethical pratice and patient centric approach. In the year 2012, Dr Arun Nair an expert endoscopic surgeon made his father Dr Balakrishnan Nair ' s dream a reality and expanded the

hospital to include state of the art operative theatres and in patient facilities. In 2013 Gitanjali hospital' s department of ophthalmology was inaugurated under the guidance of Dr Ambika Shetty. The department has facilities such as Keyhole cataract surgery , Cornea clinic , Retina Clinic and Dry eye Clinic .

Driving for Sight: Kerala’s First Glaucoma Awareness Car Rally! 🚗💨👁️
On March 15th, we hit the roads for a historic cause! In honor of World Glaucoma Week, Gitanjali Eye and ENT Hospital organized Kerala’s first-ever car rally to spread the word about the "silent thief of sight." 🛡️

Under this year’s global theme, "Uniting for a Glaucoma-Free World," the event brought together dedicated ophthalmologists, members of the Inner Wheel Club of Trivandrum Blossom, and the public.

The Journey: 🚩 Flag-off: The rally began at the Trivandrum Club, flagged off by the esteemed Dr. George Thomas (Renowned Ophthalmologist & Past President of KSOS). 📍 Destination: The convoy traveled to Shankhumugham, where the mission continued with public education.

The Mission: Since Glaucoma often has no symptoms until it’s too late, our doctors emphasized: ✅ Regular Eye Check-ups (Essential for those 40+) ✅ Understanding Risks (Family history & steroid usage) ✅ Early Detection (Vision loss from Glaucoma is irreversible!)

Participants engaged with the crowd and distributed educational bookmarks to keep eye health top-of-mind. 📖✨
