Reason of Starting the Society/School
This society was formed not just for the purpose of some social work or for the sake of having a business. Two out of three children of Mr and Mrs Simon unfortunately because of the polio attack were physically and mentally challenged. The eldest son Jose (now around 24 years) from the birth onwards is handicapped cannot raise up or can talk. The second is Daughter Simi (now 23 years) also handicapped she also cannot walk. They were taken to so many schools but were not given the admission because of their physical disability. For this reason the thought came to this parents there would be more suffering children like this. This gave the challenge to this parent to start a school for the special children who cannot go to the school. To start with there were only 8 students. And now it has grown and the school has 60 students. And the society has lot of other activities. The purpose of the society was to establish schools for the physically and mentally challenged children, vocational training school for the unemployed for the poor, Orphanages and many social projects. In order to take care of the physically and mentally challenged children and bring them forward in the society under the supra charitable society in 2001 started the school. The school is still growing and functioning as a channel of help and blessing for the mentally challenged children. Souhrida Vidyalayam;
On 2010 got the recognition of the Government. There are almost 60 disabled children’s from the society studying here. The institution aims to bring these children to the forefront. To achieve this aim the management the parents and the teachers are working very hard. Even though school is getting the grant from the government that is not sufficient for the smooth functioning of the school because of which the school is undergoing lot of financial difficulties. We have our own property but we do not have the building because of the non-availability of funds. Since there is no building we are not able to take care of more children. And it is difficult for all the children to come and go every day because of the far distance but we are not able to provide the hostel facility because there is no building. We are giving training to students in tailoring unit, Book binding, candle production, flower production and toys production for students to become self-sufficient. On the basis of brain development the children are categories into primary, secondary, vocational and prevocational. Because of Custom maid text book the children are making lot of development. Activities:
In order to help the children grow Physically, Mentally and socially they are taught and encouraged in participate and compete in various activities the following are some of the activities they are involved in.

6. Vocational Training
To keep the children physically fit and active we train them in various sports like hand ball and other sports and games. They are also taught Yoga and exercises. Children are taken out of their daily schedules on one day tours arranged to some important and prominent places where the children are able to enjoy and experience a new world. In order to encourage them even their parents are also asked to accompany their children. To bring out the hidden talents in these special children they are trained and taught the dance and music according to their talents. Children in order to be kept engaged they are given training in various skills by which they can also start earning some money. They are trained in Basic skills like Candle making, Books Binding, Toys making, and many other works. In all these the children are able to exhibit their talents in different capacity they represent the school and participate in District and State level competition and festivals and they get prizes also. Challenges and Needs:
The School is now functioning in the residence of Mr Simon. And there is a plan for having a separate place set up for this cause and have purchased the land but because of the financial limitation there is no possibility of building any infrastructure. For building new school building and Hostel we need lot of finance. Those who are willing to extend the hand of help can send their contribution to the President, Supra Charitable Society, Kunnuvila, Uriyacode PO, Trivandrum, in this address.
