We are worried that the transgender persons ( protection of rights) amendment bill 2026 is using an extremely narrow medical/ physical model to define Transgender persons. This will exclude vast majority of people currently identified as transgender. Welfare ( social, legal, cultural ) will be limited to a small section. The amendments contradicts the supreme court’s rulings. This is regressive step. This will only add pain to thousands of people . We stand with those who are affected by this.
