A lot of you asked which blood tests I did that highlighted my recent health situation and helped me take charge of my health. Well I have been doing these health checks every 6 months since I turned 30.
So, here’s a list of must-have tests for women, especially for those aged 30 & above. These are generic tests suggested by my doctors, which I’m sharing with you so that you can take care of your health too. Save it now.
Thinking why should you - a healthy person - get it done? Well, these tests monitor overall health and detect potential issues early to ensure timely intervention. Remember to make these tests a bi-annual ritual.
🔺CBC - assesses blood cell counts
🔺Blood Sugar - HbA1C & Fasting BSL - helps in managing diabetes
🔺Lipid Panel - evaluates cholesterol levels
🔺HbA1c - to diagnose Diabetes (especially imp for those with PCOS)
🔺CRP - to rule out heart disease
🔺Iron profile - to measure iron levels in body
🔺Ferritin - testing of protein that stores iron in tissues
🔺Thyroid function test - to measure thyroid health
🔺Prolactin & total Testosterone tests - to measure hormone levels
🔺Vit D Level - to assess your nutritional status
🔺Vit B12 Levels - especially for vegans and vegetarians
🔺Liver function test - identify organ health
🔺Kidney function test - assess the health of your kidneys
✅Apart from blood work, also do:
🔸Urine analysis - to detect kidney and urinary tract problems
🔸Pap smear - to rule out cervical cancer
🔸STI screening - for sexually active women to rule out sexually transmitted disease
🔸Breast ultrasound- to identify organ health
🔸Dental checkup - to detect dental issues
So moms, and even those who aren’t mothers, please don’t ignore this, coz these could improve the quality of your life, and potentially save your life too!
