മെഡിക്കൽ രംഗത്തെ സുരക്ഷാ വീഴ്ചകൾ കേവലം വ്യക്തിപരമായ പിഴവുകളല്ല, മറിച്ച് നിലവിലുള്ള സംവിധാനത്തിൻ്റെ തകരാറുകൾ കൂടിയാണെന്ന് വണ്ടാനം മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജ് വിഷയത്തെ ആസ്പദമാക്കി നടന്ന മാതൃഭൂമി സൂപ്പർ പ്രൈം ടൈം ചർച്ചയിൽ ഞാൻ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി.

​കേരളത്തിൽ മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജുകളുടെ എണ്ണം വർധിച്ചെങ്കിലും അതിനനുസരിച്ച് സ്റ്റാഫ് പാറ്റേണിൽ മാറ്റം വരുത്താൻ നമുക്ക് സാധിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. ഇൻസ്പെക്ഷൻ സമയത്ത് മാത്രം ഡോക്ടർമാരെയും സ്റ്റാഫിനെയും ക്രമീകരിക്കുന്ന രീതി അവസാനിപ്പിച്ച്, ശാസ്ത്രീയമായ സ്റ്റാഫ് പാറ്റേൺ നടപ്പിലാക്കിയാൽ മാത്രമേ രോഗീസുരക്ഷ ഉറപ്പാക്കാനും ഇത്തരം ദൗർഭാഗ്യകരമായ സംഭവങ്ങൾ ഒഴിവാക്കാനും നമുക്ക് സാധിക്കൂ.
