NIPT Testing in Pregnancy – Science with Care 🤍
NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing) is a simple blood test done after 10 weeks of pregnancy.
From the mother’s blood, tiny fragments of the baby’s DNA are analysed to screen for certain chromosomal conditions.
🔬 What does NIPT screen for?
• Down syndrome (Trisomy 21)
• Trisomy 18
• Trisomy 13
ℹ️ Important to know
• NIPT is a screening test, not a diagnosis
• A low-risk result is reassuring
• An intermediate or high-risk result does not mean a definite problem — it simply indicates the need for further evaluation
🩺 Remember
• NIPT does not replace routine ultrasound scans
• Additional scans or tests may be advised in cases of BP, sugar, bleeding, placental concerns, or growth issues
👉 Talk to your doctor to understand if NIPT is right for you and your pregnancy.
