PART - I
World Health Day is celebrated every year on 7th of April.
The theme of this year is Our Planet, Our Health.
After having been on a roller coaster ride of a pandemic, the world is more alert and more accepting towards the need of better health practices.
It is high time that the global citizens get to realize, that a healthier tomorrow is an unachievable task as long as climate crisis still keep happening.
As the WHO website quotes:
WHO estimates that more than 13 million deaths around the world each year are due to avoidable environmental causes. This includes the climate crisis which is the single biggest health threat facing humanity. The climate crisis is also a health crisis.ย
It looks like that it's high time , the realization of the gravity of the matter strikes us, before the realization of inching closer to the doomsday.
Part -II
If I were to be honest, in the contemporary scenarios, it would be a sham to celebrate World Health Day, if we still have prevalent lethal social practices, which we are adamant to give up. What's happening around, and what has been happening around is not unknown to all of us. Violence of all sorts, is not the solution or answer. And all it leads to, is loss of human lives in general, and humanity in particular. However, it is creeping into our systems, and once settled will be almost impossible to root out.
However, this World Health Day, let's be hopeful, that all the grievances come to an end. That the world embraces peace, for climate and for itself, because we are already in the midst of a rampant stampede of a pandemic, where healthcare systems have been crushed to their end points.Let's be hopeful that, a part of the community outside the whole health care fraternity realizes the value of a change, and maybe then, the spirit of World Health Day, comes out with flying colors.
