Cesarean or C-section is a major life saving surgery where 7 layers of the body is opened. Cesarean Awareness Month (CAM) aims to raise awareness and educate people about the surgery.

WHO recommends 10-15% of births to be cesareans while India has an average of more than 20% (NFHS-5). Private facilities do almost 50% of the births via c-section. Some states go as high as 60%.

CAM aims to reduce the number of cesareans for people who do not need or will not benefit from the procedure.
