AND
🌵🌵 THE OTHER WOMAN 🌵🌵
🦚🦚🦚
Avery laid back in bed, reluctant to start the day. She was actually feeling lazy and relaxed.
A few moments ago she had no plans for the day, and was enjoying the freedom of not having to rush anywhere before Ethan called her .
She didn't want to do it, but she knew she had no choice.
With a sigh, Avery picked up her phone lazily and called Piper.
"Piper, please come to my room" Avery said, her voice still husky from sleep.
"Yes, Miss Avery. I'll be right there," Piper replied, her voice cheerful as always.
"Morning..!, Miss Avery, you asked for me" Piper muttered, entering the room with a cheerful smile.
"Piper, can you help me get ready?" Avery called out, still snuggled under the covers.
Piper leaned over touching Avery's neck to check her body temperature.
"What's the occasion", Piper asked caressing Avery's messy hair.
Avery shrugged. "I don't know. Ethan called and asked me to get ready. "
Piper nodded and began sorting through Avery's closet. "Okay, well let's get you dressed then."
Avery reluctantly walked into the bathroom and started the shower, letting the warm water wash over her. She closed her eyes, trying to shake off the feeling of laziness that had been building up inside her.
Meanwhile, Piper was busy sorting through Avery's closet, looking for the perfect outfit. She pulled out a stunning red dress, one that would accentuate Avery's curves and make her stand out in front
"Miss Avery, How about this lovely red dress? ,I think this would be perfect," Piper called out, holding up the dress.
Avery poked her head out of the shower, her hair dripping with water. "That looks great, Piper. Can you help me with my hair and makeup too?"
"Of course, Miss Avery," Piper replied, smiling. "I'll make sure you look stunning."
As Avery finished her shower and got dressed, Piper worked her magic on Avery's hair and makeup. She styled Avery's hair in loose waves and applied a natural-looking makeup that highlighted Avery's features.
When they were finished, Avery looked in the mirror and barely recognized herself. She looked confident and poised.
The two girls chatted about nothing in particular as they waited for Ethan
As they finished up, Ethan arrived, looking dashing in his suit. "Ready Avery ?, Woah..!,You look stunning."
Avery smiled, feeling a bit confused. "Thanks, Ethan. What's the occasion?"
Ethan just smiled and offered his arm. "Come on, I'll show you."
Avery took his arm, feeling a bit bewildered. She had no idea what Ethan was planning.
Ethan drove Avery to the luxurious Grand Plaza Hotel, its sleek glass and steel exterior gleaming in the morning light. As they pulled up, Avery asked again, her voice laced with confusion and a hint of frustration,
"Brother, are you hosting a breakfast here? I don't get it."
Ethan just smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners, and held the car door open for Avery.
"Just come with me."
Afterwards He threw the car keys to the security guard and led Avery to the decorated hall where the press conference would be held. The room was filled with camera crews, reporters, and flashing lights, making Avery's stage shyness spike.
Avery clung to Ethan's hand tightly as they walked down to the stage, her eyes scanning the room with growing unease.
"Brother, let's just go home..." she whispered, her voice trembling.
Ethan caressed her face, his touch reassuring. "After we're done..."
Just then, Jessica appeared from the other end of the stage, her eyes cast down, and fell to her knees. The room erupted in murmurs and camera clicks.
"Is that...Jessica Russell?" a reporter whispered, her voice full of shock.
"What is she doing?" another reporter asked, his voice laced with curiosity.
"Is Ethan Landon behind the Russell's Company destruction?" a third reporter murmured, her eyes fixed on Ethan with suspicion.
Avery was dumbstruck, her eyes fixed on Jessica in horror. "Brother, what are you doing?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "I never requested this."
Ethan leaned in, his voice low and even. "I still have to do it, to remind that lousy girl who the boss is."
Avery pleaded, her puppy eyes welling up with tears. "Just stop it, I don't want it. Plummeting the Russell's Company stock value is more than enough...please stop already."
Ethan relented, his expression softening as he gazed at Avery. "Fine then, I will reinstate their name for your sake."
As Jessica crawled up to them, prostrating at Avery's feet, Avery leaned forward and pulled her up, her eyes filled with a mix of emotions - shock and pity.
"Get up, Jessica. I forgive you," Avery said, her voice firm but gentle.
The room fell silent, the only sound the clicking of cameras capturing the scene.
Ethan stood at the podium, surveying the room with a confident gaze. The reporters and camera crews were all waiting with bated breath for him to explain the shocking scene that had just unfolded.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Ethan began, his voice firm and commanding. "I appreciate your attention, but I'm afraid this press conference is over."
The room erupted in a chorus of protests and questions. "But Mr. Landon, what about the Russell's Company?" "What about the allegations of sabotage?" "What about Jessica's apology?"
Ethan ignored them all, his expression unyielding. "I said, it's over," he repeated, his voice rising slightly.
With that, he turned and walked away from the podium, Avery by his side. The room was left in stunned silence, the only sound the clicking of cameras and the murmurs of confusion.
Jessica, still standing on the stage, looked on in shock as Ethan and Avery exited the room.
She had expected some kind of statement, but instead, Ethan had simply dismissed the press conference without a word.
The reporters and camera crews were all left scrambling to make sense of what had just happened.
"What did we just witness?" one reporter asked, looking around in confusion. "Is Ethan Landon trying to silence the press?" another asked, her voice full of suspicion.
As Ethan and Avery walked out of the hotel, they were greeted by a sea of flashing cameras and shouting reporters. But Ethan just kept walking, his arm around Avery's shoulders, his expression unyielding.
They got into the car and drove away, leaving everything behind.
Meanwhile Charlotte was doing laundry on the terrace, wearing a tartan short and bralet, when Andrew rushed up to her.
"Buttercups ..!,come quick! You won't believe what's happening!" he exclaimed.
She had asked him to go get soap, but instead, he returned with his phone. "Buttercup, see what happened to Jessica - it's all over the news!" he said, his eyes wide with excitement.
Charlotte cleaned her soapy hand on her shorts and grabbed the phone from Andrew to see for herself.
The live telecast of the press conference was still ongoing, with Ethan and Avery walking away from the podium, leaving the reporters in chaos.
Charlotte's eyes widened as she saw Jessica prostrating herself at Avery's feet.
"That serves her right," Charlotte said with a smirk. "She asked for humiliation when she messed with that rude Riccardo's sister."
Andrew nodded in agreement. "I know, right? I always knew she was trouble , but it was the audacity she has in messing with Avery ."
Charlotte handed the phone back to Andrew, her eyes still fixed on her laundry.
"That jerk .. he didn't seem address the issue of the Russell Company, like they agreed, Charlotte rolled her eyes good-naturedly.
"Andrew ...!, come over here and help me", Charlotte requested .
"Yeah sure,"Andrew replied keeping his phone and rushing over to Charlotte.
The two finished the laundry and went off to help Mrs Grace, Charlotte's mother at the food shop.
Weekends were always hectic for Andrew and Charlotte but the always push through without complaining.
Ethan pulled up to the Landon's Mansion, the grand entrance looming before them. He turned to Avery, who looked radiant in the fading light of day. "I'll see you later, okay?" he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
Avery nodded, still looking a bit dazed from the events of the day. "Okay, Ethan. Where are you going?"
Ethan just smiled and leaned in to kiss her cheek. "I'll tell you later," he whispered, before getting out of the car and walking her to the entrance.
As soon as Avery was inside, Ethan got back in the car and drove off without another word. He didn't hint at where he was heading, leaving Avery to wonder.
Meanwhile, Ethan drove straight to the Landon's Empire, his mind focused on the task at hand.
He was greeted at the door by the Manager ,
"Junior Landon! Come on in, come on in!" The Manager boomed, clapping Ethan on the back.
Ethan smiled wryly and followed him into the meeting room. "Thank you for seeing me, Mr Jenkins," he said, his voice firm.
Mr. Jenkins waved a hand. "Of course, of course! I must say, I'm impressed. You're a shrewd businessman, Ethan."
Ethan leaned forward, his eyes locked on Mr. Jenkins.
"I'm want to reinstate the Russell's Company reputation . I think we can both agree that they finally did my bidding."
Mr Jenkins nodded "Consider it done, Ethan. Russell's name will be cleared just like you requested."
With that, Ethan stood up, and Mr. Jenkins followed suit. They shook hands, sealing the deal, and Ethan turned to leave.
"Come by next time."Mr Jenkins muttered to Ethan as he walked him to his car. Ethan had taken care of the situation, and he had done it his way.
Mr. Reginald Landon stood at the window on the top floor, watching as Ethan exited the building without coming up to see him.
A hint of disappointment crossed his face, but he quickly masked it with a stern expression.
Mr. Landon couldn't help feeling a little miffed that Ethan hadn't come to see him. After all, he was the one who had built the Landon Empire from the ground up. A little respect wouldn't go amiss.
"He's quite stubborn than I thought," Mr. Landon muttered to himself. "He just handled everything on his own without even consulting me."
A small sense of pride swelled in his chest. Ethan was indeed a shrewd businessman, just like him. He had taken care of the Russell's Company situation without needing his father's guidance.
With a sigh, Mr. Landon turned away from the window and went back to his desk, his mind already turning to the next challenge, the next deal to be made.
The weekend flew by like the wind and soon it was Monday,
Charlotte lazily got ready knowing that she was going to Ethan's laboratory again.
Buttercups..!,hurry up , we're running late, Andrew's voice echoed from downstairs.
"Coming Andrew" , Charlotte sighed tiredly pulling her mask over her nose.
Andrew and Charlotte arrived at school before Ethan & Avery.
"Andrew..you guys run along I will wait for Ethan", Charlotte told Andrew and Claire when the first lecture bell rang.
"Okay then , see later", Claire bid Charlotte bye as she picked up her books and left with Andrew.
Ethan & Avery arrived at their own leisure time walking down the hallway there wasn't a single soul in the hallway.
Avery opened her locker checking her memo, "Brother I think everyone has gone for English class, you should wait for Charlotte in the classroom" Avery suggested to Ethan before hugging him.
"Okay then ," Ethan replied and started walking towards the classroom.
"See you after school Ethan , Avery's voice echoed to Ethan's ears and Ethan replied waving at the air.
Ethan walked into the classroom, scanning the room for Charlotte. He spotted her sitting at her desk, with her head down.
He smiled to himself, feeling a sense of pride and superiority.
As he approached her desk ready for argument, Charlotte looked up and caught his eye.
"You are finally here", Charlotte muttered in a calm tone picking up her bag.
Ethan's heart skipped a beat at her calm approach. He felt guilty for keeping her waiting.
"Hey," he said, sliding into the seat beside her. "Sorry I'm late."
Charlotte shrugged. "It's okay. I guess I came too early"
Ethan immediately launched into a sincere explanation of his lateness.Charlotte listening with rapt attention.
"Ryder..!, I didn't mean to keep you waiting, Avery had a little problem with her uniform that's why , you can ask her if you wish," Ethan explained his words dripping of sincerity.
"No problem , shall we go now", Charlotte muttered talking the first step towards the door.
Ethan was taken aback by Charlotte's calm and collected demeanor. He had expected her to be upset or angry, but instead, she seemed almost... gentle.
"Shall we go now?" she repeated, already walking towards the door.
Ethan quickly got up and followed her, "Yeah, sure," he said, trying to sound casual.
As they walked out of the classroom, Ethan couldn't help but steal glances at Charlotte. She seemed different today, more calm and gentle. He found himself feeling drawn to her, in a way he hadn't experienced before.
"Hey, Ryder?" he said, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Yeah?" she replied, not looking at him.
Ethan reached into his school jacket and pulled out a small, sleek card. It was made of a heavy, silver metal, and a large, flawless diamond was embedded in its center.
He held it out to Charlotte, who stared at him and the card in confusion.
"What is this?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Ethan reached out and gently took her hand, placing the card in her palm.
"This is an access card," he explained. "It provides you with unlimited access to the penthouse and my lab. Show it to the security and housekeeper, and no one will ever stop you from going in."
Charlotte's eyes widened as she stared at the card in her hand. She looked up at Ethan, her expression dumbstruck. "Why are you giving me this?" she asked, her voice full of wonder.
Ethan growled at her question, his expression suddenly switched back to its usual arrogant mask, his eyes narrowing into slits.
"Don't think that just because I gave you this card, we're friends or something," he growled, his voice dripping with condescension.
"I only gave it to you so you won't use my lateness as an excuse to lazy around. Next time, don't bother waiting for me. Just head to my penthouse and start working on something. We are not going to win the competition if you stand around twiddling your thumbs."
Charlotte's eyes flashed with annoyance at his tone, and she rolled her eyes. "Wow, thanks for the clarification," she said, her voice heavy with sarcasm.
Ethan's expression didn't change as he turned to her .
"We are going to the Mall to make purchases, I placed some orders there in respect for our project."
Charlotte shrugged, tucking the card into her pocket. "Got it, I will complete the list on our way"
Ethan's gaze lingered on her for a moment, as if daring her to say something else. But Charlotte just met his gaze calmly, her eyes neutral. Finally, he turned and walked away, leaving Charlotte to follow him out of the classroom.
