As most of you, I also started my day with the news of Pranshu's demise.
It does make us wonder about people's insensitivity nowadays. In these past few years, I am shocked about the shift I have observed in people's thought processes. Especially their ability to differentiate between right and wrong. I personally have come across few people who have extreme understanding of right and wrong, which is concerning. I used to think that we Indians are inbuilt empaths because of our upbringing and close family relations. I am certainly rethinking it.
The very first question that crossed my mind was, "How did people close to them did not realize that they were going through something?"
The second question was, "Why do some people think that it is completely fine to say anything they want to the people they don't have any knowledge about?". How difficult it is to think that if someone said the same words to you, how would you feel?
After pondering on the questions here are few answers I could come up with.
For my 1st question
1. Awareness about commonly observed Mental health issues. I think only knowing about the issues is not sufficient, how to spot it is also equally important.
2. To have knowledge about the behavior traits or changes in behavior when some is struggling with mental health issues etc. It gives us an advantage to seek Mental health support much early and do the necessary. I was happy to see quite a number of Instagram handle who are creating awareness and documenting their own journey about the same.
I am still looking for an answer to my 2nd question. How to instill sensitivity and empathy is people which will eventually decrease the bullying. I think decrease is the only word, STOP seems too far-fetched.
Looking forward to your insights.
