Your morning routine is shaping your brain health. And not always in a good way.

As a psychiatrist, I see so many people struggling with low mood, anxiety, and mental fog—without realizing their morning habits are the silent culprits.

Here are 5 mistakes ruining your brain health every morning:

1. Scrolling your phone the moment you wake up
2. Skipping water
3. No sunlight exposure
4. No protein or breakfast
5. Not planning your day

These may feel “normal” — but they’re silently draining your focus, energy, and emotional balance.

🧠 Tiny tweaks can protect your brain for life.

You’re not lazy. You’re drained.

Tired all the time? Can’t focus? Feel like you’re constantly behind?

💡 It’s not a motivation problem. It’s a mental health one.

As a psychiatrist, I see this every day — people blaming themselves for low energy without realizing the invisible causes behind it.

Here are the Top 5 Energy Drainers that may be
silently exhausting you:

1. Constant overthinking
2. Suppressed emotions
3. Toxic relationships
4. Lack of boundaries
5. Poor rest & digital overload

❤️ Your nervous system isn’t weak — it’s overwhelmed. And that’s valid.

👉 If this reel felt relatable, comment “This is me”, save it for a reminder, and follow for more honest mental health conversations.

Let’s normalize rest. Let’s stop calling ourselves lazy.

Are you perfectly imperfect??? Put a YES if you agree!

We all have things we don’t like about ourselves—maybe it’s how we look, how we react to things, or mistakes we’ve made.

But guess what?

Being imperfect doesn’t mean you’re not good enough. It just means you’re human.

Too often, we chase perfection, thinking it will make us happier. But real happiness comes from accepting ourselves as we are—flaws and all.

Growth happens when we learn, not when we’re perfect.

So be kind to yourself. You are worthy, just as you are!!!

Crime committed by youngsters- NDTV interview

Recently I happened to be on a panel where we discussed juvenile crimes. Key take aways.

☑️Crime committed by kids is associated with conduct disorder, personality and temperament issues, substance use, ADHD along with social factors like broken family, violence in family, single parent homes, poverty, lack of education.

☑️ It's important to have mental health based programme in Juvenile homes to address the mental health issues that led to the crime in the first place.

☑️Proper implementation of these programmes is extremely important.

☑️Skill based training to make the kids self sufficient once they move into the real world is needed. This will help their integration into the real world.

☑️ Family training is essential for the families to understand how to better manage the youth once they are out.
