One of the most powerful ways to start your day is with the sunrise.

A study showed, when researchers expose people to the growing lights and colors of the sunrise, they see a 50% drop in mood disorders, an increase in morning alertness, and a phase advance of circadian rhythm.

This means that people have fewer depression and anxiety symptoms. In the evening, they are able to fall asleep earlier, and they generally sleep better and longer. They feel good when they wake up in the morning.

Once you are up, you need 20 to 30 minutes of sunshine at the start of your day. You need to get a strong dose of bright morning light, the sooner the better.
So, open the shutters as soon as you wake up.

Going outside is best because even on a cloudy day, it’s usually brighter outside than inside. So walk your dog, walk your kids to school, or just take a walk. Do a little morning gardening. But however you do it, get some sunshine. And, this is important, do not wear sunglasses.
