🌟 “I was thoroughly supported by the doulas and the midwives here,” says Mrs Mohita. 🌟

Mohita’s birthing journey began with Dr Gowri M***a, a pioneer of the Gentle Birth Method. It was Dr Gowri who encouraged her to consider Fernandez for her birth, a suggestion that led Mohita to travel all the way from Bhilwara, Rajasthan, to Fernandez Stork Home in Hyderabad.🌻

There, she found not just exceptional care, but a second home and the water birth she had always dreamed of. 🌊

Mohita fondly remembers how Celestina and Indie made every moment special, guiding her with warmth and care at every step. ❤️

She is deeply grateful to Dr Sonal for her unwavering support throughout the journey Dr Latha for empowering her with effective breathing techniques and exercises that helped her navigate contractions with strength and confidence. 💪🏻

🎥 Stay tuned for the next part of Mohita’s birth story, where her husband, Mr Rahul, shares his experience with us. 🧑🏻‍🍼

We’re proud to share our latest research, published in Perinatology Journal:
“Skin-to-Skin Contact (SSC) and Early Initiation of Breastfeeding Rate”
by Dr Sireesha T, Dr Rajeev Santosh P, Dr Apoorva, Dr Abhishek V, and Beulah Suhasini.

This quality improvement (QI) initiative at Fernandez Hospital set out to increase SSC and early breastfeeding among healthy newborns (≥34 weeks gestation) and the results speak for themselves:

SSC + Early Breastfeeding Rates:
Improved from 83% to 91.4% in just 6 weeks
Sustained at an average of 89% over 10 months
Success across both vaginal and caesarean births

What made it work? Teamwork, training and a shared commitment to respectful, evidence-based care. Not major investments but just meaningful change.

Today, SSC and early breastfeeding are standard practice at Fernandez.

Our Story

“In June, 1948, a young couple, Leslie and Lourdes Fernandez, started a clinic with two beds.

From these humble beginnings, it grew over the years to 40 beds, at which point they handed over the reins of the hospital to their daughter, Dr. Evita Fernandez. In 1992, the old structures were razed to the ground. On February 12, 1993, the 75th birthday of Dr. Lourdes, she and Dr. Leslie jointly laid the foundation stone of the present building at Bogulkunta, which was inaugurated on August 25, 1996. On January 8, 2011 a second hospital, dedicated to high risk mothers and babies, was opened at Hyderguda. The two hospitals together with the new Stork Home unit at Banjara Hills have a combined strength of 320 beds, offering the latest technology and expertise.”
