🩻 Why Chest X-rays Take Time to Show Improvement

Even if you start feeling better after a lung infection like pneumonia, your chest X-ray may still look abnormal for a few weeks.

🔹 Why?
Because the lungs take time to clean out the infection and repair themselves. This process is slower than how fast symptoms improve.

📅 Usually:

You may feel better in 3–5 days

But the X-ray may take 4 to 6 weeks (or more) to return to normal

✅ It’s normal — doctors often repeat the X-ray later to make sure the lungs have healed fully.

કેસ અપડેટ: માર્ચ 2025 - વ્હાઇટ આઉટ લંગ

રોગીની વિગતો:

ઉંમર: 85 વર્ષ

નમ નવીVentilatorમાંથી બહાર કાઢાયા હતા અને તેના Vital Signs સ્થિર હતા

થોડા સમયમાં તેમને શ્વાસ લેવામાં તકલીફ (Hypoxia) લઈને ઈમર્જન્સી રૂમમાં લાવવામાં આવ્યા

તપાસના પરિણામો:

MD ડૉક્ટર દ્વારા તપાસ:

શ્વાસ ઝડપ વધારે (High RR)

ઓક્સિજન લેવલ (SpO2): રૂમ એર પર 70-80%

Auscultation: ડાબી બાજુ ફેફસામાં શ્વાસ અવાજ નહોતો

X-ray: ડાબી બાજુ સફેદ પડતી (White Out) - "White Out Left Lung"

Pulmonologist પાસે રેફરલ:

ફરી Auscultation: ડાબા ફેફસામાં શ્વાસ અવાજ ઓછી કે ન હોવી

Chest X-ray: ટ્રેકિયા (windpipe) ડાબી તરફ ખસી ગઈ – સંકેત કે ફેફસું સુકી ગયું (Collapsed Lung)

Bronchoscopy: અંદર કોઈ અવરોધ (Obstruction) છે કે બહારથી દબાણ છે તે જાણવા માટે

Bronchoscopyના પરિણામો:

Trachea સામાન્ય હતી

Left Main Bronchus: મ્યુકસથી બંધ (Mucus Plug)

મ્યુકસ સક્શન અને BALથી કાઢી નાખ્યો

પછી ડાબી બાજુનો મુખ્ય બ્રોન્કસ ફરીથી ખુલ્લો થયો

પ્રોસિજર પછી ફેફસું ફરીથી ફેલાવું લાગ્યું

બીજા દિવસે: ફેફસું સંપૂર્ણપણે ફૂકી ગયેલું

Take Home Message (મૂલ્યવાન શીખ):

Trachea જો એક બાજુ ખસી જાય, તો તેનું કારણ એ હોઈ શકે છે કે કોઈ વસ્તુ તેને ખસેડી રહી છે –

Push કરનારું: જેમ કે Tension Pneumothorax

Pull કરનારું: જેમ કે ફેફસું સુકાવું (Atelectasis)

અથવા ઘસારો / ગાંઠો ગળામાં કે છાતી વિસ્તારમાં.

Key points:

Not caused by bacteria or viruses.

Symptoms: dry cough, breathlessness, mild fever.

Seen on chest scans as patchy spots.

Treated mainly with steroids.

Most people recover well, but some may have relapses.
