Installation of a new OCT at Shija Eye Care Foundation, Langol

OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) is a non-invasive imaging test used in eye care to capture high-resolution images of the retina and optic nerve.

Benefits of OCT in Eye Care:
1. Early detection of eye diseases: OCT helps diagnose conditions like age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma at an early stage.
2. Detailed retinal imaging: OCT provides detailed, cross-sectional images of the retina, allowing for accurate diagnosis and monitoring of retinal diseases.
3. Monitoring treatment effectiveness: OCT helps track changes in the retina over time, enabling eye care professionals to assess the effectiveness of treatments.
4. Guiding surgical decisions: OCT images assist surgeons in planning and executing eye surgeries, such as retinal detachment repair.

What to Expect During an OCT Scan:
1. Pupil dilation: Your pupils may be dilated to allow for better imaging.
2. Positioning: You'll be seated in front of the OCT machine and asked to place your chin on a rest.
3. Scan: The OCT machine will take images of your retina and optic nerve.
4. Results: Your eye care professional will review the images and discuss the results with you.

OCT is a valuable tool in eye care, enabling early detection and monitoring of eye diseases, and guiding treatment decisions.
