When you have myopia of > -6D , it is called High Myopia. Sometimes, besides an increase in refractive power, they have an increase in axial length of eye and develop PATHOLOGICAL MYOPIA.
Pathological Myopia affects retina and contributes to a significant factor for blindness.
From Posterior staphyloma,retinal tears, retinal detachment to myopic macular degenetation, high myopia can cause complications.

Do you see something like a cobweb floating in front of eyes? They are called as “Floaters”. They are the liquefied gel from the vitreous which is separated from retina and known as Posterior Vitreous Detachment.
These are most commonly seen due to the ageing process.
Sometimes, people with high myopia , trauma, inflammatory disorders or connective tissue disorder can experience these floaters at an earlier age too.
In few people, this vitreous detachment can cause a tear or break in the retina and can be pathological causing Retinal Detachment. Hence, if you experience a sudden onset of floaters or increase in the number of floaters along with flashes of light, drop in vision, get your retina examination done.
