๐ Vascular necrosis of the hip, also known as avascular necrosis (AVN), can occur when blood supply to the bone is disrupted, leading to bone death and joint issues. Post-COVID, there have been reports suggesting a potential link between COVID-19 and increased risk factors for AVN.
๐ Key Points: COVID-19 Complications: Severe cases of COVID-19 may cause vascular damage, affecting blood flow and potentially leading to AVN.
๐ Corticosteroid Use: Treatment of severe COVID-19 often involves corticosteroids, which can increase the risk of AVN.
๐ Underlying Conditions: COVID-19 can exacerbate pre-existing conditions like obesity and metabolic disorders, which are risk factors for AVN.
๐ Symptoms: Patients may experience joint pain, limited range of motion, and swelling in the hip area.
๐ Diagnosis typically involves imaging studies like MRI. Treatment options are core decompression with Stem cells or hip replacement depending on the severity.
๐ Diagnosis - Stage III AVN left hip
๐ Surgery - Left Total Hip Replacement
