🌟Case of Distal Shoe Space Maintainer🌟

🔹Distal shoe appliance is also known as the Intra alveolar appliance. The primary function of the distal shoe appliance is to provide a guide plane for the eruption path of the first permanent molar. Once the first permanent molar erupts in the oral cavity, then this appliance should be removed & replaced with the Band & loop appliance to maintain the space for the premolar.

1) Pulpectomy irt 74,84,85
2) Rainbow SS Crown irt 74,84,85
3) Extraction irt 75
4) Distal Shoe appliance irt 74-75

Note: In this case, the loop was directly soldered to the SS Crown.

Band & loop space maintainer did a great job.👏🏻This is the benefit of space maintainer, which allows proper tooth eruption in an appropriate location for permanent tooth. Now,it’s time to remove the space maintainer.

Tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) is a condition present at birth that restricts the tongue’s range of motion.

🔹With tongue-tie, an unusually short, thick or tight band of tissue (lingual frenulum) tethers the bottom of the tongue’s tip to the floor of the mouth, so it may interfere with breast-feeding. Someone who has tongue-tie might have difficulty sticking out his or her tongue.

🔸Tongue-tie can also affect the way a child eats, speaks and swallows. Tongue-tie can interfere with the ability to make certain sounds - such as “t,” “d,” “z,” “s,” “th,” and “I.”

🔹For an older child or adult, tongue-tie can make it difficult to sweep food debris from the teeth. This can contribute to tooth decay and inflammation of the gums (gingivitis). Tongue-tie can also lead to the formation of a gap or space between the two bottom front teeth.

🔸Tongue-tie can interfere with activities such as licking an ice cream cone, licking the lips, kissing or playing a wind instrument.
