Devvrat Yoga Sangha

Devvrat Yoga Sangha We spread our knowledge and experience of Yoga in our Yoga Teacher Trainings and Yoga Retreats in Va We are one of those schools.

As the popularity of postural (but also non-postural) Yoga has been increasing on a rather unprecedented scale, the number of Yoga schools and Yoga teacher trainings and workshops has been constantly rising. But apart from teaching the regular curriculum of Philosophy, Anatomy, and Art of Teaching, we wish to help our students understand their individual understanding of Yoga and its presence in their lives. It is our aim to create a Community of Yoga practitioners with raised awareness. So in our Yoga Teacher Trainings in Kerala, India, we engage in discussions and ask questions that perhaps go beyond a regular Yoga course in India. As we teach Yoga Philosophy, we share the knowledge of the great Yogis of the past encouraging the students to question and find their own understanding of their path of Yoga in the contemporary world. Our own paths have taken us from different cultural, family and educational backgrounds to Yoga and Yoga teaching. Since we have experienced the influence of Yoga on the way we perceive the world and how we live, we now wish to share that experience and knowledge with others in the hope to assist them in the practice of Yoga which raises self-awareness and inspires us all to live our lives with awareness as good human beings.

What is a yogi and when is someone a yogi?

“Yogi” is not a title to be obtained by a certain pope-like authority of yoga.

Anyone is a yogi who is living their life, whether through asanas, their daily actions, or simply by the way they look at things, in a way that is aligned with the yogic path.

Curious to know what this path could look like? We have shortlisted a few must reads to discover and live your inner yogi: you.

At Devvrat Yoga Sangha, we offer various programs to help those who want to dive deeper into the yogic life and accelerate their path in a conscious environment.

कृतज्ञ - kritajna - gratitude

There are a lot of things we are grateful for in our lives:

Yoga
Health
Nature

But all of these would be quite dull without the added spark, the thing that makes them worth living for:

People.

Without people, our yoga trainings would be interesting, informative, perhaps a bit more efficient even.

But it is those small moments of connection with like minded students during dinner, inspiring conversations you did not plan to have, and a friendly smile during class that make these experiences truly transformative.

So here is to all our kind, open, friendly, inspiring, hilarious and beautiful students we have had the honour of meeting, from all backgrounds, ages, countries and life paths.

Thank you for being part of our community, and of the ancient path of yoga. Thank you for contributing in any way, big or small, from kindly helping out, to raising thought provoking questions, to simply being present with all of us.

We are excited to welcome our new students for the coming season, and we are grateful for the chance to share a glimpse of our deep love for yoga with them and to keep making Devvrat Yoga Sangha a better place.

People make everything. Wherever you are, whatever you do. So take a moment today to appreciate the people in your life. Tell at least one person today that you love them.

If you are interested in joining us for the next yoga trainings, check the link in our bio and apply now.

ॐ Bhujapidasana – Shoulder Pressing Pose

Bhujapidasana (भुजपीडासन) means “Shoulder Pressure Pose” and it’s part of the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. It combines strength, hip opening, and arm balance in one powerful asana.

We want to give you some tips to work and improve your Bhujapidasana. 🤍

✨ Benefits
• Strengthens arms, wrists, shoulders
• Improves balance and core stability
• Opens hips and inner thighs
• Develops focus, control, and breath awareness.

🤸‍♂️Step-by-step Progression

Prepare the body before practicing Bhujapidasana:
▫️ Hip openers: for that you can practice Malasana, and Lizard pose.
▫️ Arm strength: practicing Chaturanga, and planks.
▫️ Core activation: practicing Navasana, and Bakasana would help to achieve this asana.

1. Practice the leg position:
Sit on a block, place legs over arms, and cross the ankles without lifting yet.

2. Try to lift-off:
Push into the hands, engage bandhas, and try lifting the feet. Blocks can help gaining heigh and mobility.
Engage bhandas, thighs, press hands down, and stay light. Keep calm, focused breath.
Drishti on the top of the nose.

3. Ashtanga transition bringing forehead to the ground instead of the chin: bend your elbows with control leaning your head down, and place carefully your forehead on the floor, hips up. Stay balance, and breathe!
With practice and time you will be able to place the chin on the floor! 🤸‍♀️

🧘🏽Tip:

It’s not about forcing the shape—it’s about balance, breath, and body awareness.
Stay consistent, be patient, and celebrate each step! ॐ

We are excited to introduce you our new addition at Devvrat Yoga Sangha: Chakra healing ✨

We are energy. This statement is confirmed by modern science. Physics recognizes that we are much more than a physical body, and ends up proving right the oldest scriptures that speak of the true nature of the human being. 🧘🏻‍♀️💫

According to holistic medicine, an imbalance or misuse of our energy can trigger certain diseases in the physical body.

How can I know my energy status, and how am I using my energy?
Having a chakra analysis. ☸️

Chakras are energy vortices in our body through which our vital energy flows. Eastern medicine deals with different pathologies by redistributing energy in a balanced way in the different chakras, which we know as “chakra healing”.

We have 7 chakras located along our spine, and each chakra is associated with a series of organs. So depending on the state of each chakra, a correlation can be made to the state and health of our organs.
But what does science say about this? 🤔

Well, it turns out that scientists named Dr. Voll and Dr. Mandel in Germany were interested in measuring the human electromagnetic field to study how we use our energy and the relationship of this distribution with certain pathologies and diseases. So they built a machine to measure the HEF (human energy field), and it was later clinically corrected by Dr. Korotkov’s team in Russia.

At Devvrat Yoga Sangha we have combined the best of holistic medicine with the latest advances in science, and we are lucky to have this technology to carry out personalized analyses of the energy points or chakras, as well as the energy state of our main organs, and other information relevant to our health.

Would you like to know how are you using your energy? 🤍✨
