Saving lives, one donation at a time
Blood is an essential component of modern day medical treatment. Who benefits from the blood donated by you? Unknown patients who are brought into Accident & Emergency services, young mothers in complications of childbirth, patients who require treatment for cancer, many surgeries including open heart procedures and haematological conditions including bone marrow transplant. Blood is still sourced from the donations by other human beings. Repeat voluntary blood donors are those that carry least risk and are of best quality.
Blood that is collected is screened for diseases such as HIV 1& 2, Hepatitis B & C, Syphilis and Malaria by some of the best platforms available. Most of the blood we collect is separated into components, which is why we are able to issue more than 60,000 units a year to our patients.
Blood and components have a shelf life and we need about 150 persons to walk in daily to meet our needs. We need donors like you to commit to donate at least twice a year to help us maintain reasonable reserves. You can walk in at your convenient time to donate blood or organize a a donation camp at your facility. If you are keen on organizing a voluntary blood donation camp contact our PRO at clinpath@cmcvellore.ac.in and we will assist you to do so.
