Comprehensive Dental Care

Myofacial Pain Care

In an ideal condition the lower teeth in a closed position fit into the upper teeth with the jaw joints in fully seated position in their respective sockets. At this position the jaw opening muscle is fully relaxed and resting. As jaw functions the various muscle function as necessary, but the joint always comes to this position on final closure.

Headache, migraine, neck and shoulder pain, ear pain and vertigo can result from the way our teeth bite!!

It all depends on the position of our jaw joint (TMJ) when our teeth positions make the joint shift from its seated position to allow complete teeth contact a disharmony results. All the three components of our jaw system namely jaw joint TMJ; muscles and teeth can get damaged.

Signs and Symptoms:

Jaw damage can exhibit as

Pain in front of the ears/eacpaia; Blocked ears
Clicking joints
Difficulty or pain while opening/closing the mouth
Painful muscles
Headache
Vertigo/noise in the ear
Neck and shoulder pain
Teeth damage – wear, mobility, sensitents, flariar of teeth

Periodontal Care

A simple gum problem as you may think if left maltreated may lead to a tooth loss. Gum /Periodontal tissues are maintained healthy by periodical scaling and cleaning of teeth;

Root planning - smoothening the root surface below the gums
Depending on the severity of infection; procedures like curettage, gingivectomy (gum trimming) or flap surgery (advanced deep cleaning) can be done.

Wisdom Teeth

The wisdom teeth or thud moles erupt between the ages 16 – 24. When a wisdom tooth does not have enough space to erupt it gets trapped inside the bone

An impacted wisdom tooth posse’s problem

In maintaining good oral hygiene
Can cause pressure and pain on the adjacent teeth and nerves
Cause headache and other facial pain
Swelling develops

And wisdom teeth are the last to erupt the ones least needed for chewing and other functions. In most cases it does more harm than good

Two modes of treatment for impacted tooth:
1. Operculectomy : if the tooth is in the right position; process of eruption correct the flap of the gums directly on the tooth can be cut (trimmed) to facilitate eruption

2. Disimpaction (Removal) : if tooth is impacted or there is no space for tooth to erupt inside the oral cairty then the tooth can be surgically recovered.
