Congenital Hypopituitarism left untreated till the child was 10 years and 7 months with congenital hypothyroidism and Growth Hormone deficiency along with hypocalcemia and severe anemia (Hb% 4). The baby could not walk till then, neurological deficits, pot belly, inablity to speak or communicate properly. After 4 months, with successful correction of her Thyroid function, Hb, calcium levels etc, the child is now able to walk for the first time in her life. Her height also increased by 5.5 cm in 4 months. Also in another couple of months, the Growth Hormone replacement therapy would be initiated. Today is World Diabetes Day,,, I will say it is a celebration and observance,,, celebration, for Frederick Banting whose birthday falls today, discovered about Insulin(a life saver) and an observance about understanding how Diabetes affects a person on so many levels in the human body and how or what can be done to prevent and treat it efficiently. Awareness, patient education, right diagnosis, and treatment is very crucial in keeping Diabetes and its massive implications under control, Navya Sriramaneni.
