MYTH BUSTERS:
❌Break the myths❌

There are several myths and misconceptions about colostrum, the first milk produced after giving birth. Here are a few common myths:

1. Myth: Colostrum is bad for the baby.
Fact: Colostrum is highly beneficial for newborns. It is rich in antibodies, essential nutrients, and immune-boosting factors, providing protection and nourishment during the crucial early days of life.

2. Myth: Colostrum is dirty or impure.
Fact: Colostrum is not dirty; it is a natural and essential part of the postnatal process. It contains substances vital for the baby's health and development.

3. Myth: Colostrum should be discarded.
Fact: Colostrum should not be discarded; it should be given to the newborn. It is particularly important for establishing a strong immune system and providing essential nutrients.

4. Myth: Colostrum production is insufficient.
Fact: It's normal for colostrum production to be lower in volume than mature breast milk. However, this small amount is concentrated with nutrients, making it adequate for the newborn's needs.

5. Myth: Colostrum is only for the first few days.
Fact: Colostrum is produced in the first few days after birth, but its benefits continue as long as the baby receives breast milk. It gradually transitions into mature milk over time.

6. Myth: Formula is better than colostrum.
Fact: Colostrum provides unique benefits that formula cannot replicate. It helps build the baby's immune system and provides tailored nutrition.

It's important to consult with pediatricians and lactation experts for accurate information and guidance on breastfeeding and colostrum for newborns.

Arjun,my son always says he wants to be a scientist. I hope this encourages my child & many children!!

“May Chandrayaan's journey to the moon inspire my child with the limitless possibilities of exploration and discovery. Just as scientists reach for the stars, I hope my little one grows up with a heart full of curiosity and a mind open to the wonders of the universe. May this mission remind us all that we're capable of achieving incredible feats, and may my child's dreams, like Chandrayaan, know no bounds."

Happy parenting!!!
Proud to be an Indian!!!

Wishing all the hands behind this success👍👍👍

ORS is a solution/liquid which is used during loose stools and fever when child is dehydrated.

It is a mixture of water and essential electrolytes in right quantities to prevent dehydration in children.

There are many products in the market which have formulae different from WHO recommended ORS and are marketed with names ORSL,Rehydrate and all. This can do bad or dehydrate even more when consumed during fever or loose stools.

Check the label when buying ORS for yourself or your child.

These are some brands which have WHO RECOMMENDED ORS formulae.

SHOULD WE GIVE “Water” to babies < 6 months old???

No, it’s not necessary to give water. Exclusive breast feeding will suffice the water requirements of the baby even in summer and dry climates.
Giving water to baby may decrease the nutritional energy requirements and also can cause electrolyte imbalances.

In certain conditions like diarrhoea, infections and dehydration, pediatricians may recommend WHO ORS formulae if necessary. Start ORS only if recommended by doctor.

Breast milk has two parts , foremilk and hind milk. Foremilk contains water and carbohydrates which fulfils thirst of the baby. Hind milk is rich in fat and proteins.
