--Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, popularly known as GITAM, was founded in 1980 by an inspired group of eminent intellectuals and industrialists with the objective of promoting a world-class institution of higher learning in diverse fields of professional education.
--In 2007, this premier institution of high
er learning and research with Global standards was declared a deemed university u/s 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, by Ministry of Human Resources, Govt. of India.
--The University is located in three picturesque campuses at Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. With a multi disciplinary approach, the University offers different programs at UG, PG and Doctoral levels in - Technology, Pharmacy, Science, Management, International Business, Architecture and Law.

--GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research established for admitting 150 MBBS students annually to give world class training.
--The attached teaching Hospital is planned for 850 beds after completion. Initially, it is operational with 360 beds with all basic specialities like Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Opthalmology, Paediatrics, Dermatology etc.
--There are 05 Nos. of operation theatres to cater to the needs of various specialties.
--The out-patient departments are run by qualified specialists.
--The emergency medicine and trauma department is working round the clock. It is adequately equipped to deal with all emergencies.
--The Intensive care unit is well equipped with monitors, ventilators and other supportive systems for giving necessary treatment to the critically in-patients.
--The well established and state-of-the art central clinical laboratory and modern blood bank facilities are available for handling all types of elective and emergency medical problems.
--The Hospital will be upgraded to a full fledged 850 beds teaching hospital with all basic and super specialty departments to take care of tertiary medical problems.
--The GITAM Hospital is strategically located facing the sea surrounded by urban, semi-urban, rural and tribal areas.
