Project Brief:
The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) is implementing the “Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI)’ for the development of clusters of traditional industries to make them more productive and profitable while ensuring sustained employment of traditional artisans and rural entrepreneurs. The Scheme envisages need-based assistance for the replacement of production equipment, setting up of common facility centers (CFC), product development, quality improvement, improved marketing, training, and capacity building
Stakeholder Brief:
Indian Micro Enterprises Development Foundation (IMEDF) as Nodal Agency
IMEDF, the social enterprise development vehicle of Development Alternatives Group, is an empaneled Nodal Agency under the Scheme for Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) Programme with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. IMEDF as Nodal Agency is responsible for the identification of clusters, selection of Implementation Agency (IA), having a capacity of ground-level development of the cluster, and appointment of Barefoot College International as Technical Agency (TA). All the funds released to IA and TA is routed through the Nodal Agency.
Barefoot College International (BCI) as Technical Agency
Founded by Shri.Sanjit Bunker Roy in 1972, Barefoot college International newly appointed as a Technical Agency sees as a catalyst and catapult for MSME SFURTI's effort towards creating and enabling ecosystems for skill development, employment generation, and enterprise building. The Barefoot Approach has been possible through a network of over 30 NGOs across 17 states of India that is a part of the Society for activating, motivating, and promoting development activities (SAMPADA). It has a reach of over 90 countries and 17 states in India.
Mani Amma Chaitanya Shravanthi (MACS) as Implementation Agency
Aliveni founder and cluster advisor for MACS to educate and empower the impoverished in Andhra Pradesh. Continuing the legacy of Aliveni’s mother, who spent her life striving to reinforce respect for tribal communities at the cluster, MACS works on essential development domains such as women empowerment, family health, community water management, clean energy, and skill development.
Giri Chaitanya FAMCO (GC) as SPV
Sudheer directs the strategy and operations of Giri Chaitanya FAMCO. Along with being a qualified M.B.B.S doctor, he is a practitioner of soil rejuvenation using regenerative farming practices for coffee cultivation. A veteran development professional, Sudheer’s depth of understanding, and the vast experience of working and living with coffee farmers at the cluster is key project success. He manages a portfolio of over 25 farm-based products harboured under the brand - Eastern Ghats .
