Building an Inclusive Future Through Accessible Design!
Andhra Medtech, in collaboration with MQCI, successfully conducted the Accessible Built Environment Certification Course on 28th and 29th May 2026. The two-day program brought together participants from diverse backgrounds, including persons with disabilities and non-disabled professionals, creating a unique platform for learning, collaboration, and awareness.
The course focused on the principles of universal accessibility, inclusive infrastructure, disability rights, the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016, National Building Code (NBC) accessibility guidelines, accessible transportation, wayfinding systems, tactile indicators, ramps, parking facilities, and barrier-free design practices.
Participants gained hands-on experience through practical sessions, accessibility audits, interactive activities, simulation exercises, and real-world case studies, enabling them to understand the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and the importance of designing spaces that are accessible to all.
The program also introduced participants to the Purple Building Certification framework, highlighting the process of creating and certifying accessible and inclusive buildings. By bringing together architects, engineers, planners, accessibility professionals, persons with disabilities, and other stakeholders, the course fostered a shared vision of creating environments where everyone can live, work, learn, and participate with dignity and independence.
