Being situated on the banks of river Manimutharu, a holy river by itself, Vridhachalam is a well known spiritual centre because of its famous Lord Shiva temple. The town also has other names like
Thirumudhukundram and Pazhamalai, with Lord Shiva being called as Virudhagreeswarar or Pazhamalainadhar. This town is a Taluk headquarters, which serves the daily and urgent needs, business and employment opportunities for its surrounding 180 villages approximately. This is a 30 bedded hospital with well equipped labour rooms and operating theatres. In addition it also has laboratory, pharmacy, ultrasound and X-ray services. With recent installation of laparoscopic equipments, our hospital has also started services in key hole surgeries. The next horizon which we are aiming at is to provide affordable orthopaedic care, weight loss surgeries and advanced laparoscopic procedures for colorectal cancer and hepatobiliary/pancreatic diseases (from 2014).
