A diabetic patient presented to PM Medical Centre with swelling and infection in the foot. On X-ray, we identified an unknown foreign body lodged inside. During surgery, it was revealed to be a glass piece. It was successfully removed, and the patient is now recovering well. 🙌

🦶Diabetic Foot Care Matters! A Real-Life Reminder🦶

A Diabetic patient recently presented to PM Medical Centre with fever and swelling in the left foot. On examination, an abscess was found in the first web space and on the foot. 🧫 During wound drainage, our team made a surprising discovery — a metal wire lodged deep inside the wound! 😱

The patient had no idea about the injury due to peripheral neuropathy, a common complication in diabetes that reduces foot sensation. This unnoticed injury led to cellulitis, a serious skin infection. Timely wound debridement and removal of the wire were done to control the infection and save the limb. 🩺

✅ This is a wake-up call for all diabetic patients:

Check your feet daily

Wear protective footwear

Get regular foot exams

Report any cuts, swelling, or redness immediately.

🩺 Diabetic Eye Screening Camp 👁️

PM Medical Centre in association with IMA Vellore successfully conducted a Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Camp at PM Medical Centre on 23rd July 2025, where 45 patients were screened using a fundus camera.

📌 12 patients were identified with diabetic retinopathy and have been referred for further evaluation and management.

📣 Awareness about Diabetes Mellitus and its silent complications—especially diabetic retinopathy—was also explained to all patients during the camp.

The camp was efficiently coordinated by Dr. G. Manigandan and Dr. Santhanagopal.
