Anchored in the global momentum of the WHO Bangkok Declaration on Oral Health, the D20 International Workshop convened by IDA stands as a timely and strategic milestone. In collaboration with WHO and FDI, Bringing together national and international stakeholders, the workshop will spark meaningful dialogue on aligning policy with global frameworks, advancing prevention, and standardizing dental care — marking a decisive step towards translating India’s commitment into accessible, integrated oral health for everyone.

The Indian Dental Association (IDA), through the Indian Academy of Sports Dentistry (IASD), has officially signed an MoU with Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences to offer the Fellowship in Sports Dentistry — a one-of-a-kind program that combines online academics with real on-field training with national & international athletes.

With global recognition from the European Academy of Sports Dentistry (EASD), this program is set to transform how dentistry supports athletic performance and safety in India.

𝗔 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆, 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲!

From the 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗸𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗵𝗶, our journey was not just about kilometres covered but lives touched and smiles empowered.

In a record-breaking stride for oral health awareness, I am humbled and proud to share that our nationwide initiative led in collaboration with Haleon has officially been recognized by the Guinness World Records for conducting an unprecedented number of screenings in a single day.

𝟮𝟳,𝟯𝟵𝟲 𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱. 𝟮𝟰 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀. 𝟭 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱. 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱.

What began as a vision rooted in purpose has blossomed into a national movement. The sacred grounds of Mahakumbh witnessed our first steps, and Delhi became the stage for a historic culmination where communities, dental professionals, partners, and volunteers united with one goal: making oral care accessible to every corner of India.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Haleon n for the gracious token of appreciation presented to me and the INDIAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION in recognition of our joint endeavour to promote oral health across the nation.

On 8th May 2025, the Indian Dental Association (IDA) and the Indian Society of Oral Implantologists (ISOI) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly launch the Fellowship Program in Oral Implantology.

I am delighted to witness this significant step towards empowering dental professionals across India with world-class training in oral implantology.

This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to raising standards in clinical excellence and continuing dental education.

Together, we will build a stronger, skill-driven future for Indian dentistry.

The Indian Academy of Sports Dentistry (IASD), an initiative by IDA, successfully hosted the Fellowship in Sports Dentistry Graduation Ceremony on April 17th at SAI Bengaluru.

With a year-long, European-accredited curriculum, our fellows are now equipped with vital skills in dental injury management, Pre-Competition Dental Assessments (PCDA), and custom mouthguard fabrication—safeguarding athlete health at both national and international arenas.

We were deeply honored by the presence of Smt. Raksha Khadse, Hon’ble Minister of State for Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of India, as Chief Guest, along with eminent Guests of Honour:

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁 | 𝗜𝗗𝗔 𝘅 𝗙𝗗𝗜 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

We’re thrilled to share our latest article—an outcome of years of consistent effort, research, and collaboration.

In 2014, the 𝗙𝗗𝗜 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 (𝗢𝗛𝗢) initiative to improve global oral health data collection and analysis. At the national level, the 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗜𝗗𝗔) partnered with FDI to implement this initiative in India which was supported by 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗼𝗻. The objective was to collect standardised, comparable oral health data using FDI’s OHO digital application—focusing on dentition and periodontal status, care-seeking behaviours, and oral health-related quality of life among patients visiting private dental practitioners.

Dr. Ashok Dhoble - Professional Career.

A Consulting Orthodontist and a former adviser to the Department of Public Health and Medical Education, Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai, Dr. Dhoble, a gentleman to the fingertips, is currently the Hon. Secretary General of the Indian Dental Association. His aim is to improve the oral health conditions of the people in the country and accelerate the development of dentistry in India thereby enhancing the image of the dental fraternity in the country.

Dr. Dhoble’s contributions to oral health have made the FDI World Dental Federation, Geneva, take notice and elect him to its Executive Council, of which he is a member since 2014. He is also a Fellow of International College of Dentists.

Dr. Dhoble has been a mentor for budding dental surgeons as also for industrialists in the dental sub-sector. Technology transfer, education and research in the dental sub-sector are matters close to his heart as instruments that promote better oral health conditions and have been the major focus of his oral health campaign. He has been the driving force behind the Indian Dental Association’s several oral health initiatives in the country.

Dr. Dhoble has been a campaigner to drive the “Make in India” initiative through his efforts at hosting the World Dental Show, which provides a platform for world renowned manufacturers of dental equipment to zero in on joint ventures in India. He has also been able to secure reductions in import duties for dental equipment to accelerate development of Indian dentistry.
