How to Read a research paper

1. First pas ((15 – 30)) minutes

- Read “title” abstract and introduction.
- Read section and sub-section headings.
- Read the conclusions.
- Read the references.

2. Second pass ((1 – 2)) hours

- Look at “figures, diagrams and other illustrations”
- mark relevant unread references for further reading.

3. Third Pass ((8 – 10)) hours

- Read all paper.
