Peace be upon you

I am Imad from Syria, a therapist for diseases

Inflammation of the eighth nerve is an inflammation that affects the vestibular nerve located in the inner ear, as this nerve sends signals from the inner ear to the brain to help balance the body.
Here are the most prominent symptoms of inflammation of the eighth nerve that the affected person may suffer from, and how to diagnose and treat it in this article.
Symptoms of inflammation of the eighth nerve
Symptoms of inflammation of the eighth nerve can vary from feeling mild dizziness to a strong feeling of spinning or swinging or severe dizziness, and symptoms may include the following:
Nausea.
Vomiting.
Difficulty in vision.
Poor concentration.
Symptoms of inflammation of the eighth nerve usually appear suddenly, and may start from waking up, and may get worse when performing daily activities.

Symptoms can sometimes be so severe that the affected person may find it difficult to stand or walk, so people often seek medical help immediately due to the severity of early symptoms.

Severe symptoms may generally last for a few days, but less severe symptoms begin to gradually fade over several weeks.

People recover completely from eighth nerve inflammation, but if the viral infection causes damage to the vestibular nerve, the person may develop chronic dizziness.

How to diagnose eighth nerve inflammation
Third nerve inflammation is diagnosed as follows:

A vestibular specialist may perform tests to help assess the extent of hearing and vestibular damage, and to help confirm that these symptoms are caused by eighth nerve inflammation. These tests include hearing tests, balance tests, and tests to determine whether part of the vestibular nerve has been damaged.
There is another specific test called the head thrust test, which examines how difficult it is to maintain focus on objects during rapid head movements. The presence of nystagmus, which is a rapid, uncontrollable eye movement, is also an indication of eighth nerve inflammation.
If the symptoms persist for more than a few weeks or worsen, the doctor will perform other tests to rule out other possible diseases that cause the same symptoms, such as:
Stroke.
Head injury.
Brain tumors.
Migraines.
An MRI with contrast may be performed to rule out certain brain disorders.
Causes of eighth nerve inflammation
The most common causes of eighth nerve inflammation are viral infections, often caused by a systemic virus, such as the influenza virus or the herpes viruses that cause chickenpox, shingles, and cold sores. Consultation Contact Private
