Zawita Pharma company started exercising its trading activities in the area of medicines and medical supplies ever since May 1998 under the name of Zawita Depot. Gradually, the company’s trading scope expanded and in order to be legally recognized as a company with full authority to import wholesale shipments of medicines and medical supplies, “Zawita Pharma” company was established in August 2008. Below is a brief description of the company’s major activities:
•Importation of miscellaneous medicines and medical supplies from Turkey, UAE, European Community Countries, Jordan, Egypt and Syria.
•For the same above purpose, in April 2009, the company entered into a three-year agreement with the Turkish (BILIM Company) for Pharmaceuticals based on which the latter will provide Zawita Pharma with supplies on regular basis.
•In December 2010,the company entered into two-year agreement with the Canadian (PHARMA SCIENCE Company) for Pharmaceuticals based on which the latter will provide Zawita Pharma with supplies on regular basis.
•The imported shipments are intended for the following purposes:
1.Cover the local market need (being in Kurdistan region or the whole of Iraq) particularly concerning medicines of internationally recognized “Trade Marks".
2.Act as supplier based on the offers awarded after participation in a bidding process for both private and government sectors.
3.Replenish the stock for both the depots and the pharmacies owned and run by the company.
•Occasionally, the company donates shipments of medicines and medical supplies to the government health facilities as contribution to sustain the health system.
•Being the exclusive representative for the Turkish “BILIM Company for Pharmaceuticals”, the company’s media section is launching advocacy activities to promote the sales from the above origin in all areas where we have presence. Currently, the company employs around 20 medical representatives and sales agents for the above purpose all over Iraq.
•The company sponsors holding pharmaceutical and medical conferences to achieve the following objectives:
1.Help build the capacity of the participants through the studies, researches and lectures presented;
2.Present orientations on the company’s imported supplies to promote sales;
3.Such occasions provide an opportunity to exchange views, experience and discuss obstacles that are normally faced on daily basis.
•Sponsor sending doctors and pharmacists to attend conferences held outside Iraq on pharmaceutical topics.
