A 10-year-old boy with multiple congenital deformities، 4 weeks after surgery referred to our clinic to have splint.

A whale design splint was fabricated to able him to perform his ADL in functional position of the hand and regain this position.

Also we buddy taped index and middle finger for better pinch.

2 three-point system splints were suggested as night splint for him to reduce his flexion contracture.

One day Dynamic splint work shop was performed by Iran Hand Rehabilitation Center ( Orfiran ). Dr Maryam Farzad, OT PhD, hand therapist and assistant professor was the instructor of this workshop.
25 participants attended this workshop. They learned theories in biomechanics of Dynamic splints and also the principles of dynamic splinting in the first hour.

In this one day workshop 4 dynamic splints were taught : Capner splint, Dorsal Dynamic orthosis, Wrist Dynamic Splint and Dart design. All of the participants experienced how to work with Dynamic tools and fabricating Dynamic orthosis.

Dynamic splinting after realignment surgery of the extensors by Dr Kamrani for a patient with Rheumatoid Arthritis (R.A).

This surgery process stops the fingers' tendency of Ulnar deviation and requires accurate splinting to restore the optimal ROM and function.
Also an anti-Ulnar deviation splint was fabricated for the other susceptible hand to this deformity

One-day Static Splint Workshop was performed in University of Rehabilitation of Iran By Dr Maryam Farzad, Orfit specialist, Hand therapist and Occupational Therapy PhD.

30 participants ranged from bachelor to Phd Student, attended this weekend workshop.
The program of this workshop included : Anti-Spastic splint, Whale Design splint, finger splints, Anti-Claw hand, Anti-ulnar-drift, Trigger finger, Thumb support with Orficast, orthosis for De quervain’s tenosynovitis.

At this 7 hours workshop Participants expressed desire to learn new designs and effective splints for their own clients at their clinic. They all tried all of these splints and were eager to register more advanced splint workshops in future .

Splinting with 2 Goals :
1 : Increasing Flexion ROM
2: reducing Extension Lag and Preventing Flexion contracture deformity.

Our patient with Intraarticular Fracture, was given 2 splints.
A 3-point splint for nights and a dynamic Flexion splint for using during the day .

He himself is able to increase the tension of flexion force with velcro.

A 20 year old girl with an intraarticular fracture, after her pin removal with 20 degree flexion contracture and also 5 cm flexion gap was referred .

Besides therapeutic intervention usage of static progressive splint can facilitate her joint movement.

Orficast More was used for it .

A 6 month new born was referred to our clinic with the complaint of camptodactyly.
We fabricated a 3-point finger splint with additional hand base part to be able to become fixed on this tiny hand.

Also some exercises were recommended to the Family with the basis of 3 point lever system, such as stretching, pathy exercises, joint mobilization and etc.

Our new patient Three weeks After repair of the extensor tendon in zone 3, referred for therapeutic interventions. With considering short arc motion protocol two splints were moulded for him.

Static progressive splint to be used in night, And dynamic splint which limits the flexion in pip up to 30 degree while helping the passive extension of that joint during day time.

The patient asked to actively flex his Pip and the rubber band will extend his joint.

Exercises is done with the wrist is supported in mid range of flexion to avoid active insufficiency.

Our patient, a 26 year old hemiplegia refered to our clinic after 2 surgeries.

The first surgical procedure was transfer of wrist flexors to fingers extensors.

And the second one was Transfer of brachioradialis to EPB and AP to restore thumb extension and abduction and facilitating release .

We fabricated a 3 pieces Dynamic splint for him to become able to faciliate thumb extension and abduction while flexing elbow in pronation to adapt the tendons to their new functions
