Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression (PLDD)
It's a minimally invasive procedure for lumbar and cervical discectomy in an ambulatory medical clinic. The procedure doesn't need General Anesthesia and is performed under local anesthesia and light sedation. A needle enters the disc space, then a laser fiber passed through the needle; and laser is sparkld to the disc nucleus, so, it's vaporized and the disc volume is decreased.
Immediately after the procedure, the patient's symptoms are relieved; and, the patient is under observation in the recovery room for 2 hours.
After that the patient is discharged home asking for complete rest for about 7 days and partial rest in home for about 3 weeks.
After about 6 months the disc regression is obvious in MRI.
