Í framhaldi fór hann að stunda nám í kínverskri læknisfræði við The International Institue of Chinese Medicine. Ríkharður bjó í bandaríkjunum í 10 ár hann starfaði hjá the Clinic for Health and Wellness í 6 ár, og sérhæfir sig mest með fólk sem hefur mikkla verki, bæði með fólk sem hefur lent í bílslysum og öðrum slysum. Vann í nánu samstarfi við fjölmarga lækna, sjúkrahúsa, sjúkraþjálfara, kírópraktora, osteópata, natropata, næringaráðagjafa, aruvedic medicine doctor og aðra óhefðbundna meðhöndlara í fjöldamörg ár. Ríkharður var formaður Nálastungufélags Íslands. Ríkharður hefur átt og rekur fyrirtækið Nálastungur Íslands ehf.
