"The Glowie chapter of my life is over” says the former musician Sara Petursdottir. She was very famous some years ago as Glowie , but now she is more into visual arts, coffee and being a mom.

Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörður Gylfadóttir, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, intends to resign from her parliamentary duties, where she has been appointed to the post of ambassador for a five-year term. She will take office on August 1. According to sources, she is set to become ambassador to London, Great Britain.

A mandarin duck drake has been staying in the creek at Hafnarfjordur (Harbour Fjord) and many bird watching enthustiacs has been photographing the drake. "This is such a beautiful bird that it's always fun to see it again, again and again," says birdwatcher Sveinn Jónsson, who yesterday got up close and photographed a mandarin duck swimming gracefully in Hamrakotscreek.

"I was never harassing anyone or using violence or r**e or anything... what people sometimes say is just nonsense," says Ingó the weather god. It appears that unscrupulous taxi drivers have begun using the Hreyfil taxi company logo without permission, if the account of a passenger who claims to have accepted a ride with such a driver earlier this month is anything to go by.

The staff of the National Park at Thingvellir are in the starting blocks for the Kaleo concert to be held on June 20. National Park Ranger Einar Á.E. Birgitta Haukdal and Mr. Peanut Butter are the authors and performers of this year's Vestman Islands National Festival song. The Vestman Islands National Festival is the largest and most popular outdoor festival in the country.

A church in Reykjavík was broken into, according to police, the perpetrators had left when they arrived. It is not yet known whether anything was stolen. Assistance was also requested regarding a fight on a bus in Árbær in Reykjavík.

The Centre Party's candidate lists in four municipalities have announced their support for diversity. The statements come after the party's deputy chairman likened the flying of the rainbow flag to "an ideological demand for ideological submission."

A small plane ended up upside down while landing at Tungubakki in Mosfellsbaer this evening. There was one pilot on board who escaped uninjured.

The broadcaster and entertainer Audunn Blöndal and his wife Rakel has opened a new restaurant/coffeeshop/bar in the heart of Fossvogur neighbourhood. The place is called Fossinn (The Waterfall). "It's been our dream for a long time to open a neighborhood place like this.” Says the happy couple.

Teachers are in shock after the Minister of Children and Education’s, Inga Sæeland speech at the Teachers' Union's session this morning. The union's chairman says it is disappointing that the government intends to continue throwing things at teachers that go against the National Curriculum.
Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir plans to return to parliament in May when she finishes her studies in New York. Áslaug confirmed this on the social media platform Instagram, after she has been studying at Columbia University for the past year.
"I am not only the Prime Minister, but also the Chairman of the Icelandic Social Democratic Party. The Social Democratic Party cannot be taken away from me.” Says Kristrun Frostadottir, PM of Iceland. She also said in the parliament today that she don't appreciate it when she is accused of untruths or deception.
The CEO of Kvika Bank, Arman Thorvaldsson, says the Icelandic Competition Authority is ruling out a merger between the bank and a larger financial institution, as it is too competitively important. Therefore, the proposed merger with Arion Bank will not happen.
Sævar Freyr Þráinsson, CEO of The Energy Supply, says that the company has found a new geothermal area at Meitlar in Hellisheiði. This has yet to be confirmed with a third borehole, but if the research is confirmed, it will be great news for the Icelandic nation.

The Vice-Chairman and former Educational Minister, the honourable Congressman, Guðmundur Ingi Kristinsson, has left The People's Party. The reason is personal breach of trust concerning personal relations within the party. The Chairman of The People’s Party, Inga Saeland is silent as the grave about alleged breach of trust. Inga Saeland is now the Educational Minister and one of the three top Valkyries in the Government. She says that she will miss Gummi, as she calls him.
Young grandmaster Vignir Vatnar Stefánsson is one of the leaders at the European Individual Chess Championship in Katowice, Poland, just over halfway through. The tournament is an extremely strong one, with 500 competitors taking part, many of them the world's most powerful chess champions.
The Icelandic Transport Authority has launched an investigation into the low-flying Icelandair passenger jet over Vestmannaeyjar on Saturday. Icelandair officials are taking the incident very seriously. The pilot who was gonna retired the day after was flying his last trip as a professional.
A former youth soccer coach in Akranes says on social media that he has been thrown out of the job from the local club as each other poopy diaper, just because of one silly mistake.

A new Board of Directors for the Icelandic Freestyle Sports Association was elected yesterday, and its members include former Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir.
In the upcoming Municipal and local government elections the residents in the capital city Reykjavik can choose from eleven different political supply lists.
Board of Directors of the Icelandic Prison Guards Association are really worried about the overflow of prisoners in Icelandic jails. It is very difficult to ensure the safety of prisoners and staff.

On August 12, 2026, a total solar eclipse will be visible from Iceland for the first time since 1954. The path of the total eclipse passes over the Westfjords, Snæfellsnes Peninsula, the Capital Region, and the Reykjanes Peninsula.

Kristrun along with her college Valkyries, the Education Minister, Inga Saeland and the Foreign Minister. Thorgerdur Katrin held a press conference to introduce one of their famous plans. Now the Valkyries are adding 35 new plans to their excel sheet.
The Valkyries government is gonna lower VAT on fuel temporarily
Rúna Friðriksdóttir, an employee of Amnesty International Iceland, and Óttar Guðnason, a star filmmaker, have purchased an apartment on Geirsgata. The apartment is magnificent.
Íris Róbertsdóttir, mayor of the Vestmannaeyjar municipality, has decided to become the candidate for the Independence Party's mayoral candidate in the upcoming local elections in May.
Sigríður Ósk Hrafnkelsdóttir will compete in Miss Iceland on April 22. She is probably the most well-known contestant this year, having previously appeared on national television when she competed in the Icelandic Singing Contest. She believes that her parents divorce has sculptured her the most.

Dr Ragnar Freyr was sacked from The National Hospital in Iceland early this week. Ragnar is also known as The Doctor in the Kitchen.
Hafþór Julius aka The Mountain is aiming at to set a new word record in Deadlift in the Seroids-Games in Las Vegas next month.
Isavia has postponed plans to add a third runway at Keflavík Airport due to cost. Ideas to bring a decommissioned runway back into use have also been knocked of the table. "Going for a third runway is a very really expensive project and we are not planning to do it anytime soon.”says Malen Lind Masdottir, the Airport Development Manager.
The representative of the online liquor store Small State has been convicted of selling one white wine cow and is believed to have violated the government own alcohol store license to retail alcohol in Iceland. The owner of another online store says the verdict is absurd.
Freyr Gígja Gunnarsson has been appointed as the Ministry of Justice's information officer for one year. Freyr has been one of the biggest star at the government own newsroom at RUV Ohf. He holds a B.A. degree in general religious studies from the Faculty of Theology, University of Iceland.
