Upsurgeon

Upsurgeon UpSurgeOn is a cadaver-free simulation-based platform for psychomotor surgical skill enhancement using virtual and physical simulations.

It is currently focused on microsurgeries (neurosurgery, plastic surgery, ENT surgery, maxillofacial surgery, and spine surgery). The team is made up of Neurosurgeons, Residents, Medical Students, Digital Artists, Developers, Bioengineers, Graphic Designers, and Free-thinkers. UpSurgeOn was founded in 2017 by two neurosurgeons, Dr. Federico Nicolosi (Founder and CEO) and Dr. Giannantonio Spena (Co-founder), and is headquartered in Milan, Italy. UpSurgeOn has been supported by the EIC (European Innovation Council) through the Horizon 2020 program (grant n 880895).

UpSurgeOn is immensely proud to announce the closing of a €5M funding round. This is a major milestone that will accelerate our global expansion and mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

💡 One idea born in the operating room by two neurosurgeons, Dr. Federico Nicolosi and Dr. Giannantonio Spena.

AN EPIC CHAPTER.

Imagine walking into work exhausted, running on little energy, sometimes not even knowing what’s happening outside those four walls.

Decisions are made on the go, and the commitment, focus, and hard work are immense.

Yet in the middle of it all, it’s easy to forget something fundamental: every role matters in achieving something BIGGER than any one of us can see.

These three days in Seville marked something HISTORIC. 🚀
Around 40 faculty members and more than 100 attendees came together to transform the culture of surgical training.
Method. Discipline. Attention to detail. Focus. Synchronization.

We delivered the largest endoscopic spine course ever conducted in the world — and it wasn’t just about the numbers. 🌍
