Many of the British expats who had residency prior Brexit will now, 5 years on, be looking to renew their Carta Di Soggiorno and there doesn’t appear to be a definitive explanation of what needs to be done. I have just assisted a couple with this problem and wanted to pass on our findings.
Firstly go to a post office and ask for a Carta di Soggiorno Kit. Do not complete any of the forms that are in the kit. You now need to take this along with your historical documents, WA agreement form and the like to the Patronato office. In ATESSA there are two CGIL office, the Italian equivalent to citizens advice, who do this work. They will then complete the forms and put them online. Then take these completed forms back to the post office who will then process them and THEY will make an appointment with the state Police.
You will need 30.40€ for the red payment slip plus 30€ for the kit plus a 16€ bollo stamp attached to the form. This is per person. The bollo can only be bought, in cash, from a tobacconist the other payments can be made at the post office.
My experimental couple have yet to do the police bit yet so I will update this info when that part has been completed.
Please ask for a 10 year card as you have been here for more that 5 years and this gives you permanent status.
