Everyone knows the symbol of medicine - a snake wrapped around a staff or goblet. This is the symbol of Asclepius, the god of healing in Ancient Greece. According to legend, Asclepius went to King Midas to resurrect his son Glaucus. On the way, a snake wrapped around his staff, and he killed it. But then another snake wrapped around the staff with grass in its mouth and resurrected the first. It was with the help of this herb that Asclepius began to resurrect the dead. But two snakes wrapped around a goblet are a symbol of the god of trade Hermes. However, many medical organizations and societies have just such a symbol on their logos. And the reason for this is the US Army Medical Service, which placed the rod of Hermes on its logo in 1902. Whether this is an oversight or a mistake - no one knows, but since then there has been confusion.
