When the mornings turn crisp and the air gets a bit drier, our digestion loves warmth, softness, and simplicity.
One of the most nourishing things you can start your day with right now is a bowl of stewed spiced apples.

Gently cooked with cinnamon, cardamom, or ginger, they:
✨ kindle digestion
✨ calm the nervous system
✨ support regular elimination
✨ bring grounding and steadiness to the whole day

It’s a small practice with big effects — a way to warm the belly, soften the edges, and sync your system with the season.

A bowl of comfort, ancient wisdom, and real nourishment.

If you’re feeling dry, stiff, or a little anxious lately, you’re experiencing Vata Season, according to Ayurveda. The cold, dry, and windy qualities of the season are increasing in all of us.

The beautiful, simple solution? Abhyanga (warm oil self-massage).

It’s 15 minutes of luxurious self-love before you shower, and it directly counteracts Vata’s draining qualities.

Ayurvedic Benefits

When you practice Abhyanga, you are actively choosing to:

Ground Your Nerves: Calms the nervous system to reduce stress and anxiety.

Nourish Your Skin: Intensely moisturizes dry, flaky skin.

Improve Sleep: Prepares the mind and body for deep, restful sleep.

Lubricate Joints: Keeps joints flexible and reduces stiffness.

Choose Your Oil Wisely

The best oil depends on your constitution (Dosha):

Vata Types (Dry/Cold): Use warming Sesame Oil or nourishing Almond Oil.

Pitta Types (Hot/Inflamed): Use cooling oils like Coconut Oil or Ghee.

Kapha Types (Heavy/Slow): Use lighter, stimulating oils like Mustard Oil.

A Crucial Warning

Please DO NOT practice Abhyanga if you feel heavy, sluggish, or have a thick coating on your tongue (signs of high Ama—Ayurvedic toxins). Applying oil on top of Ama can trap those toxins deeper in your tissues.
If you suspect Ama, your body needs a gentle cleanse first.

Ready to Customize Your Wellness?

Knowing which oil to use, and when your body is truly ready for it, is key to getting real results from Ayurveda.

Our hills have turned golden and the air carries that soft stillness before winter.

In Tuscany, November feels like a quiet pause between seasons — the olive harvest winds down, wood fires begin to scent the air, and the landscape itself seems to exhale.

From an Ayurvedic view, this is Vata season — dry, cool, and light — a time when nature’s winds can stir restlessness in the body and mind. It’s the perfect moment to return to warmth, routine, and nourishment.

I find myself craving slow-cooked meals, spiced teas, and time by the fire. Ayurveda reminds us that as the external world becomes cooler and lighter, we can balance it with grounding foods, steady rhythms, and moments of stillness.

Think of soups simmering on the stove, roasted root vegetables, and warm oils that soothe the skin. Think of early evenings for reflection, gentle walks, and time spent listening — to the season, to the body, to the silence that deepens as the days grow shorter.

November teaches a simple truth: balance is found by aligning with nature’s pace.

As the world slows down, we can too — with gratitude, warmth, and a steady heart.

In Ayurveda, spices are more than flavor — they’re medicine, balance, and energy.
Each blend carries the wisdom of nature, harmonizing body, mind, and spirit through taste and aroma.

🌿 Rooted Harmony (Vata blend)
Embrace stillness and stability. A grounding mix to calm the winds of change, ease restlessness, and restore inner steadiness.

🌸 Cool Serenity (Pitta blend)
Soothe the inner fire. A cooling, refreshing blend that brings peace to body and mind, supporting digestion and emotional balance.

🔥 Energize Essence (Kapha blend)
Awaken your vitality. A warming, invigorating blend that uplifts energy, stimulates metabolism, and clears stagnation.

Spices gently awaken Agni — the digestive fire that governs transformation — supporting vitality, clarity, and lightness from within.

Handcrafted with care in Tuscany 🤍
Holistic balance, one spice at a time.

Roasted chestnut season is officially here in Tuscany.

If you’ve started noticing those irresistible mounds of castagne piled up in the Florence markets, your body is getting a natural nudge from nature—and from Ayurveda!

Late fall is peak Vata season (air and ether energy), which brings dryness, coldness, and instability (think dry skin, anxiety, or scattered thoughts). So, why do we crave these delicious nuts right now?

Ayurveda explains it perfectly: Chestnuts are the ultimate Vata balancer!
* They Ground You: They’re naturally heavy and dense, countering Vata’s light, airy nature and helping you feel stable and centered.
* They Nourish: With their naturally sweet taste and high energy content, they are deeply nourishing and help build your vital essence, known as Ojas, preparing you for the cold months ahead.
* They Warm You: Eating them roasted or boiled (always cooked!) introduces the vital warmth your body needs to fight the seasonal chill and keep your digestion strong.

Next time you grab a cone of hot chestnuts, know you aren’t just enjoying a treat—you’re doing some powerful, ancient self-care! Embrace the season by eating what’s local and warm. ❤️

It’s been pouring in Florence these past few days, and the city feels softer somehow — the cobblestones glisten, the Arno swells, and the air carries that crisp, damp smell of autumn.
For me, this is the kind of weather that calls for comforting, grounding food.

One of my favorite dishes this time of year is Ribollita, the traditional Tuscan soup of beans, vegetables, and stale bread. it feels like a hug in a bowl.
And ever so sustainable- its meant to be prepared with ingredients you’ve already got in your kitchen.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, rainy, windy autumn weather tends to stir up Vata, leaving us feeling a bit unsteady or chilly. Root vegetables, beans, olive oil, and gentle warming spices help ground the body and mind, nourishing both digestion and spirit.

There’s something magical about cooking slowly while the rain taps on the window — a moment of calm, connection, and care for yourself. 💛

What’s your favorite cozy recipe on a rainy day?

There are so many ways to meditate — on and off the cushion.
Metta (loving-kindness), moving or walking meditation, mindfulness, chakra or energy-based practices, vipassana, mantra, and more.

When I teach, I love introducing my students to this range of meditations — hoping that at least one will resonate, feel natural, and eventually become part of their daily rhythm.
Because meditation isn’t about mastering a single technique; it’s about finding what helps you connect — simply and consistently.

And while I’ve trained in many traditions, my personal daily practice is Transcendental Meditation (TM). I love its simplicity: just twenty minutes, twice a day, using a personal mantra that effortlessly allows the mind to settle into deep stillness — and the body to release accumulated tension and stress from the nervous system.

That release is profound: when the nervous system is clear and rested, we naturally think more clearly, find creative solutions, and move through the day feeling grounded, calm, and relaxed.

As Maharishi Mahesh Yogi beautifully said:

“Water the root to enjoy the fruit.”

When we nourish the source — the quiet field within — life on the surface naturally becomes more harmonious.

If you’d like to learn how to meditate or deepen your personal practice, I’d love to guide you. 🌿

This week in Judaism is one of the holiest and most transformative of the year. The High Holidays – Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur – mark a sacred period of reflection, renewal, and return.

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins the “Ten Days of Awe,” a time of introspection when we look honestly at our lives, our choices, and our relationships. It is both a celebration of creation and an invitation to begin again with clearer intention.

Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is the culmination of this journey. It is a day dedicated to prayer, fasting, and seeking forgiveness – from ourselves, from others, and from the Divine. At its heart, Yom Kippur is about release: letting go of the mistakes of the past year and stepping into a space of humility, honesty, and possibility.

Together, these holy days remind us of the cycles of life – the inevitability of imperfection, the power of forgiveness, and the courage it takes to realign ourselves with our deepest values.

In the quiet of fasting and prayer, and in the communal strength of gathering together, we are invited to soften, to repair what has been broken, and to open our hearts to a new year filled with compassion and purpose.
