Un po' della nostra storia.
La 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐳𝐚 𝐝𝐢 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐨 fu in parte organizzata per celebrare il 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗺𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼 del 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲, in occasione della quale il comitato editoriale si riunì per la seconda volta in dieci anni. Due giorni dopo, l'𝟴 𝗴𝗶𝘂𝗴𝗻𝗼 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟬, durante l'𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘇𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗮̀, 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 fu eletto presidente, il Prof. 𝐉𝐚𝐧 𝐆. 𝐁𝐫𝐮𝐡𝐧 presidente eletto e il Prof. 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐞 𝐒𝐦𝐞𝐭 tesoriere. Altri importanti membri fondatori erano i Prof. 𝐄𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐬𝐤𝐲, 𝐍𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐋. 𝐄𝐭𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐞 𝐗𝐢𝐚𝐨 𝐏𝐞𝐢-𝐆𝐞𝐧.

A bit of our history.
The 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 was partly organized to celebrate the 𝟭𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 of the 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 in which the editorial board met for the second time in 10 years. Two days later on 𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟬, at the 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆, 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 was elected president, Prof. 𝐉𝐚𝐧 𝐆. 𝐁𝐫𝐮𝐡𝐧 as president elect and Prof 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐞 𝐒𝐦𝐞𝐭 was elected the treasurer. Other important original members were Profs 𝐄𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐬𝐤𝐲, 𝐍𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐋 𝐄𝐭𝐤𝐢𝐧 and 𝐗𝐢𝐚𝐨 𝐏𝐞𝐢-𝐆𝐞𝐧.

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the 25ᵗʰ International Congress of the International Society for Ethnopharmacology (ISE) and 1st Workshop on Nursing Ethnopharmacology, which will take place from the 14ᵗʰ to the 17ᵗʰ September 2026 in the historic city of Foligno, located in the heart of Umbria, Italy.

The central theme of this congress is “Ethnopharmacology and Transcultural Medicine”, highlighting the growing recognition of traditional medical knowledge as a valuable resource for global health. In a world marked by increasing cultural interconnectedness, ethnopharmacology offers unique insights into the therapeutic practices of diverse communities — creating bridges between ancient healing systems and modern biomedical research.

This congress will serve for an international platform for interdisciplinary dialogue between scientists, clinicians, ethnobotanists, pharmacologists, anthropologists, and healthcare professionals. Together, we will explore the clinical relevance of medicinal plants and natural products, their role in integrative medicine, and the challenges of validating and translating traditional remedies into evidence-based medical applications.

Foligno 2026 will feature plenary lectures, thematic symposia, roundtables, and interactive sessions emphasizing collaboration across cultures and disciplines.
