Are you in your late 30’s and 40’s and feeling the effects of peri-menopause, more emotional and anxious, perhaps finding weight gain harder to shift?
This can often be from hormonal changes during this period (onset can start late 30s and last up to 10 years). As oestrogen levels decrease, anxiety can increase, leading to higher cortisol (stress hormone), which can, in turn, affect sugar levels and contribute to weight gain. Yoga helps by relaxing the nervous system and reducing anxiety.
Try a simple daily practice like « legs up the wall » (Viprata Karani) for 3-10 minutes, combined with slow nostril breathing and placing hands on the belly and heart. Placing your hand on your heart releases oxytocin - a neurotransmitter which evokes a feeling of safety and trust.
To explore more tools for managing peri-menopausal symptoms, join us for a 6-day Women’s Wellness retreat in magical Tuscany this October.
