🎓 Today December 23rd at 3:00 PM CET, Farman will defend his thesis titled "Public Perception, Attitudes, and Adaptation Towards Heatwaves in Pakistan (PATH)", marking the culmination of his PhD journey in Global Health, Humanitarian Aid, and Disaster Medicine. His research delves into the complex interplay of public perception, adaptive behaviors, and attitudes toward heatwaves in Pakistan. Using comprehensive methodologies, he explored the socio-environmental factors influencing how communities perceive and adapt to heat-related risks, providing critical insights into the challenges of climate resilience in a highly vulnerable region.
Grounded in the Health Belief Model, his work analyzed how perceptions of susceptibility, severity, barriers, benefits, cues to action, self-efficacy, and adaptation influence individual and collective responses to extreme heat. By combining quantitative data with contextual analysis, this study provides a foundation for evidence-based interventions and policies to enhance heatwave resilience.
