🎓 On December 10th at 2pm CET, Yasir will defend his thesis titled "Intersection between Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) and Complex Emergencies Among Population Affected by Conflicts in Low- and Middle-income Countries (LMICs)", marking the final stage of his PhD journey in Global Health, Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Medicine. His research addressed challenges at the intersection of MNCH and complex emergencies in conflict-affected countries.
Through diverse methodologies, it explored the impacts of pandemics, displacement, and political instability on healthcare access and outcomes, focusing on vulnerable populations like women and infants. By analyzing data, conducting systematic reviews, and engaging with affected communities, these projects informed resilient, evidence-based interventions and policies to improve MNCH in LMICs. Further, as an Intern and Visiting Graduate Student, he spent 10 months at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Humanitarian Initiative at Harvard University. During this period, he contributed to WHO-commissioned systematic reviews and led the “INFORM Risk Index” project, adapting global frameworks to address the needs of women and children.
His work is dedicated to advancing equity in global health and strengthening healthcare systems in crisis settings. Yasir is currently a part-time research faculty at CoE for Trauma and Emergencies, the Aga Khan University, Pakistan.
