What does approved EFSA Health Claim mean?

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is the European Union agency that provides independent scientific advice and reports on existing and emerging risks associated with the food chain. The organisation divides products into two claim categories: nutrition and health.

Nutrition claim indicates that the product has such benefits as low fat, no added sugar, and high fibre. In turn, a health claim is a statement given on labels, advertisements, or other marketing materials about the product's health benefits. They confirm that consuming a particular food may improve your wellbeing, for example, help strengthen the body's natural defences or contribute to normal cognitive development.
