SUNDAY 3RD NOVEMBER

THEME: WATER BAPTISM AND THE HOLY COMMUNION

THEME SCRIPTURE: For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come (1 Corinthians 11:26).

There are those who ask if it is right to partake of the Holy Communion when you’re not water-baptized. First, in Christianity, we have sacraments like the Holy Communion and Water Baptism. In Mark 16:15-16, the Lord Jesus charged the disciples to spread the Gospel to every corner of the earth and to every person, emphasizing the importance of Water Baptism: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” (Mark 16:16). In Matthew 28:19, He said, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

Then, in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, Paul shares an important revelation he received from the Lord. He recounts the events of the night the Lord Jesus was betrayed, highlighting the profound significance of the Holy Communion. In consequence, Water Baptism and the Holy Communion are not dependent on each other; you can partake in the Holy Communion even if you’ve not been baptized in water. The Bible doesn’t stipulate that you can only take the Holy Communion if you’ve been baptized in water.

However, in many churches, the Communion is often reserved for those who are baptized members. There’s nothing wrong with this practice. The reason many follow this guideline is that baptism is viewed as a sign of one’s full belief and commitment to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It signifies a complete acceptance of the Gospel.

In the Early Church, during the great persecution, if individuals were asked about their faith and they denied it, their baptism was used as evidence of their true commitment to Christ, often leading to their persecution.

Churches typically do not baptize non-believers. This is why many churches believe that true Christians should be baptized and therefore may only serve Communion to those who have been baptized. The practice is commendable and aligns with the church’s desire to honour the significance of baptism in the Christian faith.

CONFESSION
Dear Father, I recognize the significance of the Holy Communion and Water Baptism as symbols of my faith and commitment to you. Every opportunity to partake in the Holy Communion is my declaration of my victory over Satan, the world and its elements; a declaration that the Lord Jesus bequeathed His wealth, rights, and privileges to me, a will which is now in force. I have eternal victory and dominion over sin, sickness, disease, death and the devil, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Matthew 28:19-20: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

Acts 2:41-42: Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

1 Corinthians 11:23-25: For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the [same] night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also [he took] the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink [it], in remembrance of me.

SUNDAY 27TH OCTOBER

THEME: PRESENT YOUR STRONG REASONS

THEME SCRIPTURE: Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob (Isaiah 41:21).

Luke 7:1-7 tells a remarkable story about a centurion and his servant. Jesus had just finished teaching the people and entered Capernaum where a centurion’s servant was gravely ill, almost at the point of death. The centurion, deeply concerned for his servant, sent Jewish elders to beseech the Master to come and heal his servant.

When the elders approached the Master, He didn’t immediately go with them until they gave Him compelling reasons why the centurion was worthy of His attention: “And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this: For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue. THEN JESUS WENT WITH THEM…” (Luke 7:4-6).

Notice the underlined part; the Lord only agreed to go with them to heal the centurion’s servant after they presented their strong reasons. This further illustrates the principle found in Isaiah 41:21, where God challenges the children of Israel to bring forth their strong reasons. This is something we take advantage of when interceding for others: we present our requests with strong, heartfelt reasons. We take God’s Word back to Him as the basis for our arguments, why what we’re asking for has to be done, because it’s in line with His Word.

Remember what the prophet said, “Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips” (Hosea 14:2). So in prayer, you go with compelling words, God’s Word concerning the situation you’re dealing with. The elders we referenced earlier presented their strong reasons effectively; their arguments were based on the centurion’s genuine love and significant acts of kindness, showing that with compelling reasons you can influence divine actions. Write down your arguments; present your reasons thoughtfully with strong convictions and you’ll always prevail. Hallelujah!

PRAYER
Dear Father, you want all peoples to be saved and come to the knowledge of the Truth. Therefore, I pray for those who haven’t yet received Jesus as Lord, that today, as your children preach your Word all over the world, the light of the glorious Gospel will shine brightly without restrictions, dispelling darkness, and ushering many into the glorious liberty of the sons of God, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Luke 7:1-7: Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum. 2 And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. 3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this: 5 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue. 6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: 7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.

Luke 11:5-10: And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? 7 And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. 8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. 9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

TOPIC ✨ A GLOBAL HARVEST ✨

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).

We’ve learnt in our last two studies that God has a definite number of souls that must be won before the return of the Master. There’s a divine urgency in the Spirit to gather the harvest. Who knows when that last person will believe? The time is drawing near, and we must preach the Gospel around the world with greater fervency and conviction than ever before.

We must reach every soul; the mandate is to reach them all. Romans 11:25 AMPC talks about “...the full number of the ingathering of the Gentiles...”; this is more than people merely hearing the Gospel; it’s about bringing in the harvest, leading people to a personal decision to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior.

We’re in the season of the greatest harvest the world has ever seen. The most exciting time for a farmer is harvest time, and spiritually, this is our harvest time. Souls are being won all over the world and it’s happening fast; the Holy Spirit is moving mightily.

If you’ve not been passionately involved in soul winning, it’s time to realign your priorities; get busy with soul winning. You’d discover now, more than ever, it’s easy to win souls. The Holy Spirit is doing the work. All you need to do is open your mouth, and He will fill it with the right words. The power of God will flow through you to your listeners, and they will hear the Word, believe and be saved. These are exciting times!

The fields are ripe for harvest, and as the labourers, we must be diligent. It’s part of the reasons we’re taking active and daring steps to make sure everyone on earth receives God’s Word during the upcoming ReachOut World Day on December 2nd 2024. Make sure to join us in spreading the transformative message of God's love to every corner of the globe through the distribution of Rhapsody of Realities.

The time is now; reach out to those around you and be bold in sharing the Gospel with them. The ingathering is happening, and we must be part of this divine mandate to cover the earth with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Let’s reach them all and bring them into the Kingdom.

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the privilege of being co-labourers with you in this great harvest as Christians all over the world are filled with the urgency, boldness and wisdom to reach out to the lost and bring them into the Kingdom. The Holy Spirit grants us the strategies to share the Gospel effectively for them to know the truth and be saved, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
Matthew 9:37-38
Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly [is] plenteous, but the labourers [are] few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

John 4:35
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and [then] cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES, DAILY DEVOTIONAL, SUNDAY 13TH OCTOBER 2024. Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ THE LAW COULDN’T PRODUCE LIFE ✨

Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses (Acts 13:38-39).

Before Jesus came, there was the Law of Moses, not for the whole world but for Israel. Under the Law, you had to obey it to be blessed by God; righteousness was achievable only by obeying all the Law. But according to the book of Hebrews, there was no law that could give life, neither could men fully obey all the law: "For on the one hand, there is an annulling of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness, for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God" (Hebrews 7:18-19 NKJV).

Additionally, Hebrews 8:7 NKJV says, "For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second." Thus, the Law could not set men free. In Galatians 3:21 NKJV, the Apostle Paul tells us that the Law couldn’t give life; it lacked the power to produce righteousness: "Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law."

In Romans 8:3 NKJV, he further explains what was faulty about the law: "For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh." God had to replace the old covenant with a better covenant: "But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, in as much as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises" (Hebrews 8:6 NKJV).

This new covenant was made when Jesus came and paid the ultimate sacrifice with His divine blood. Because of that ultimate sacrifice, Jesus gave us His righteousness.Romans 3:21-22 declares, “But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference.” Hallelujah! Through Him (Jesus Christ), we’ve been justified from all things from which we couldn’t be justified by the Law of Moses. Blessed be God!

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the gift of Jesus Christ, who paid the ultimate price for my sins and granted me His righteousness. I rejoice in the good news of the Gospel, knowing that I am justified, free from all guilt because of His sacrifice. I live in this reality every day, sharing this truth with others and walking in the fullness of your blessings, in Jesus' Name. Amen

FURTHER STUDY:
Romans 8:1-4
[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Romans 3:27-28
Where [is] boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES SUNDAY, 6TH OCTOBER.

RIVERS OF LIVING WATER ISSUING OUT OF YOU

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water (John 7:38).

The words of Jesus in the scripture above should be real and tangible in the life of every Christian. It says out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water. How important it is to have these rivers of living water issuing out of you! If you read further, the 39th verse explains that Jesus spoke of the Holy Spirit: "But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified" (John 7:39).

Isaiah 55:10-11 also gives some insight into this. It says, "For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth...." Just as rain pours down to nourish the earth, so does the Word of God pour out to fulfil God’s purpose. Proverbs 18:4 AMPC tells us, "The words of a [discreet and wise] man's mouth are like deep waters [plenteous and difficult to fathom], and the fountain of skillful and godly Wisdom IS LIKE A GUSHING STREAM [SPARKLING, FRESH, PURE, AND LIFE-GIVING]." Notice the underlined portion; it underscores the power and life in words that are inspired by the Holy Spirit.

In Acts 10:44, Luke narrates a remarkable incident that happened while Peter was preaching in the house of Cornelius: "...the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word." The words Peter spoke were empowered by the Holy Spirit, pouring out like a gushing stream, bringing life to all those who heard them.

When you receive the Holy Ghost, you minister the Spirit through your words. Your words are spirit and life, just as Jesus said of His own words (John 6:63). Hallelujah! Jesus’ words opened blind eyes (John 9:6-7), cast out demons (Mark 5:1-20), raised the dead (John 11:43-44), and calmed the raging tempest (Mark 4:39). He spoke to nature, and it obeyed (Matthew 8:26-27). Your words carry the same power. You can speak to your body, command growths to disappear, and declare healing in your heart, lungs, and kidneys. Practice speaking the Word of God over yourself and your circumstances. Let the rivers of living water issue out of you; these are words of life empowered by the Holy Spirit.

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit who fills me with power and purpose. My words are spirit and life because of your Spirit within me. I continually speak words that align with your truth and bring transformation to my world, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
Proverbs 18:4 The words of a man's mouth [are as] deep waters, [and] the wellspring of wisdom [as] a flowing brook.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life.

John 7:37-39 In the last day, that great [day] of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet [given]; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

THEME: THE MANIFESTATION OF TRUTH

THEME SCRIPTURE: The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth; For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever (2 John 1:1-2).

If you’d read the entire second epistle of John you’d observe something in the first four verses: the word “truth” is emphasized repeatedly with a total of five mentions. Clearly, there’s a significance to this. Then in his third epistle, he continues with the same emphasis on “the truth.” Why so much emphasis on “the truth”?

In John 18:37, Jesus told Pilate that He came to bear witness to the truth, and everyone that is of the truth hears His voice. Pilate then asked Him, “What is truth?” John must have really pondered the answer. He must have recalled what Jesus said in the fourteenth chapter, “…I am the way, the truth, and the life…” (John 14:6). He also would have recalled Jesus’ prayer to the Father in John 17, when He said, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth” (John 17:17).

So, John wasn’t merely captivated, intrigued or enthused by truth; he embraced it fully. He related and fellowshipped with “the Truth.” In 1 John 1:1-2, he talked about seeing and handling the Word of life, and the Word is truth!

So, when Jesus walked the earth, He embodied God’s truth. He was the manifestation of truth, the will of the Father unveiled to us. If you ever wanted to know the will of God, look at Jesus. If it’s true that Jesus was the manifestation of the truth, what does that make you? Paul, in 2 Corinthians 4:2, said something profound about himself and his companions, declaring that by the manifestation of the truth they commended themselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

What Paul was saying in essence is, “This is our life—we’re the manifestation of the truth.” Yes; you are! You were born to express the will of the Father to the world. This is God’s vision and plan for you. Your life and your everyday walk is the manifestation of the truth. This is how He sees you, and this is the life that you must live. When you wake up every day, declare, “I’m the manifestation of the truth. I’m the manifestation of the will of God.” Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I’m the manifestation of the will of the Father; I live each day in alignment with God’s truth and my life reflects the glory and realities of the Kingdom of God. I’m born of God’s truth and uphold truth in every circumstance and situation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

John 18:38 – Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault [at all].

John 17:17 – Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

John 1:14 – And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

THEME: HE KNOWS THE TRUTH ABOUT EVERYTHING

THEME SCRIPTURE: Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come (John 16:13).

Oftentimes, when people get sick, many aren’t aware of the reason for their trouble. They try all kinds of drugs, some of which even cause more problems than they realize. When nothing changes, they begin to wonder, “Why am I going through these difficulties? Why am I feeling so sick? Why is this happening to me?”

Well, the Holy Spirit was sent to guide you into all truth, including the truth about your health. He can help you know the problem and also the solution. Did you know the Holy Spirit is a healer? Yes, He is. The Bible says, “if He lives in you, He will vitalize your physical body.” It doesn’t matter that you’ve been diagnosed with some disease; now that He lives in you, there’s the guarantee for a change. Glory to God!

Maybe you’re a student or you’re carrying out research for a project; the Holy Spirit is the Teacher inside you. You need to listen to Him because He knows everything. He’s the Spirit of wisdom, knowledge and understanding. He can fill you with the knowledge of God’s will, with all wisdom and spiritual understanding concerning anything. Just ask Him.

The Holy Spirit has come to help you in all aspects of life, whether in business, in family, or in your finances. He’s come to help you gain the mastery, to make you a wonder. Your greatest asset while you’re here in this world is the Holy Spirit. He’ll teach you the Word of God and remind you of things you’ve learned.

The Holy Spirit guides you in prayer and shows you the future. So, with Him, you can never lose or fail. Encourage His work and ministry in your life by acknowledging that He’s in you and with you always. You can speak with Him more than you do anyone else. Thank Him for being your ever-present teacher, helper and guide.

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the ministry of the Holy Spirit in my life. I’m always attentive to His guidance, as He leads me in victory in every aspect of my life: in my finances, health, job, family, relationships, and ministry. I walk in wisdom and discernment, always knowing the steps to take as I fulfil my destiny in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

John 16:13 AMPC – But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].

John 14:26 – But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Romans 8:26-27 AMPC – So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance. And He Who searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what His intent is], because the Spirit intercedes and pleads [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with God’s will.

THEME: FOLLOW HIM

THEME SCRIPTURE: And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men (Matthew 4:19).

Notice what the Lord said in the verse above: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Your responsibility is to follow Him, and He’ll make all your dreams come true. Follow Him, and He’ll see to it that you fulfil God’s calling and destiny for your life. But how do you follow Him?

If you had lived in Jesus’ day in Israel, you might have thought that following Him meant physically accompanying Him from street to street, village to village, or town to town. It’s however beyond that. Judas, who followed Jesus physically, ultimately betrayed Him and lost out with God, proving that following Him physically wasn’t enough.

The first aspect of following Jesus is to follow Him in the Word, for He is the living Word. John 1:14 tells us, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” When you follow Him in the Word, you’re following Jesus Himself. The written Word is all about Jesus.

Secondly, you must follow Him through the Word. As you study the Word, you’ll find Jesus and understand His mindset, His beliefs, and observe His actions. You’ll see how He responded to everything. You’ll read, for example, how He reacted to a billowing tempest; He demonstrated authority over nature and His ability to bring peace even in the midst of chaos (Mark 4:38-39).

Everything about Jesus is revealed in the Word. Learning how He responded in various situations provides valuable insights for our own lives. When He got hungry, what did He do? When He felt tired, what did He do? He did all He did to show us how to live. Therefore, we must follow Him in, through, and by the Word. Following Him by the Word means to act on His Word, to do what He says. James 1:22 NIV says, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the privilege to follow Jesus in, through, and by the Word. I immerse myself in your Word daily, and I’m granted deep insights to understand its mysteries, deep secrets, and apply the principles and teachings in my life. I’m a doer of the Word, and I experience victory and triumphs in every aspect of my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

John 8:31-32: Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Luke 9:23 – And he said to [them] all, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

James 1:22-25 NIV – Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
