✨ Let’s talk about Jala Neti ✨

or shall we start from the beginning? Let’s talk about Shatkarma.

We already know that yoga goes far beyond the asana on the mat. One of the traditional yogic practices it includes is Shatkarma - the five cleansing rituals designed to purify the body.

These five techniques cleanse and detoxify the body, from the simplest to the most profound.

Most of them are less accessible to practice on our own at home, but the first one - JALA NETI is something anyone can try with a bit of courage.



How does it work?
💧Mix 1 tsp of salt with 500 ml of warm water.
💧Wait until the water cools down to about 37°C (body temperature).
💧 Place the neti pot at one nostril and gently tilt your head to the opposite side.
💧 Breathe through your mouth and let the water flow through.
💧Practice 10 rounds of fire breath (Kapalabhati) closing the nostril you poured from, then another 10 rounds through both nostrils.
💧 Repeat on the other side.



✨ Extra Tip ✨

Finish your practice with 2 minutes in Child’s Pose, followed by a few Sun Salutations to ensure your nostrils are completely dry.

YOGA IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY CENTER?

When I first got the invite to teach at the Open Art Weekend at .artdistrict , I wasn’t sure how it would feel.

Practicing yoga surrounded by people, art, buildings, and noise isn’t exactly in line with traditional yoga, where we aim to eliminate distractions in order to focus inward.

But in modern life, we rarely find those “ideal” or “perfect” scenarios. Moreover, yoga teaches us to find our inner peace beyond the mat and out of the studio.

Leading a class and meditating in the middle of the street turned out to be a beautiful experience.
