Tackling climate-related respiratory disease means tackling inequality.
The most vulnerable communities breathe dirtier air, face longer allergy seasons, and often miss early diagnosis. Non-physiological factors—income, housing, occupation, education, access to care and local air quality—have the greatest influence on lung health.
While pollution remains Europe’s biggest environmental health challenge, we have the power to change that.
By acting now, Europe can lead the way with cleaner cities, stronger health systems, and safer workplaces—helping to prevent asthma and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and protect those most at risk. Together, we can turn this challenge into progress.
