The day I arrived to this home in Sicily, a cyclone was brewing. I ended up losing power, service, and trouble shooting water pumps in my first 24 hours. Mind you, I had no service outside of my WiFi working, it was my first time in Sicily, and the home was powered by wood which I had to collect and split myself.
I’ve always looked up to travel bloggers because there’s a level of vulnerability that gets expressed.
You are sharing a piece of yourself with the world, and welcoming in the knowing that people are going to construct a perception around go you are, what you stand for, and how you choose to live. Underneath the costume we create, there is a world of uncertainties and challenges we face. Travel isn’t an escape from the trials and tribulations, but a sacrifice of one for another.
In Sicily, I became best friends with my core. Yes it was difficult, yes there were bad days, but in reality, I was learning to listen to my unique rhythm.
